<div class="IPBDescription">could be applied to plants, hive, clothes, ...</div>I found out about something yesterday that is really cool. It is about clothe simulation but done dynamicly and with great speed to create a real time simulation. This got me thinking as it can be applied to plants, the hive or anything having clothes, sheets, draperies, ... It causes all this to dynamicly react to collisions and wind.

Have a look at <a href="http://www.custom-logic.com/exp/cloth/cloth.html" target="_blank">this real time simulation</a> where you can drag the clothe with the mouse and see how it reacts while playing with the wind speed.

The actual code and theory is explained in links below it.

This could add more realism to the game by having dynamic environment reacting to wind and players.

the problem is that in NS2 and 1 arent any movable objects and offcourse no wind on a spaceship

the marines wear a nanite steel body armor: there can nothing move

edit: also crysis have not the resources to make this simulation ingame and in editor
    how can source?

I'm fairly sure the half-life2 episode 2 engine will satisfy any physics related needs that might come up.

And keep in mind, in NS2, you won't be standing in one spot doing absolutely nothing ( At least I hope not ), so you won't really be able to appreciate a feature like that in NS2, and things like that may just be left out to increase performance.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a PhysX some time in the future, but not for NS2.

The only wind that could be produced is from the air ducts.

Maybe dust and stuff moving inside the duct would add some realism for those inside. It goes from being just a place made for aliens to something that once had a function and the aliens are simply using it for their own goals.

But that might be hard to do...

I say don't do it, but I think it might be wise to mention it.

Repeat: I don't support it. Just mentioning an idea.

I think it's not <i>that</i> difficult to make a scripted 3Dentity (for example a flag beneath a fan), which always moves in the same loop animation.
That would have a great effect with little efforts, wouldn't it?
