F-Zero - Red Canyon also has some nice fast paced action going on the whole frikking time the song is playing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> (SNES version of course!)

If someone wanted to put a NS competition together we could find some CDs that are free to download like some of the projects from ocremix. <a href="http://www.ocremix.org/albums/" target="_blank">http://www.ocremix.org/albums/</a> DooM: The Dark Side of Phobos might be a fun one to try

I was enjoying this but there is very little to this game. As the novelty fades so does the fun... Maybe this is good for a casual gamer that would only play for 5 minutes (a song or two), but for someone who wants to play it for longer it gets old fast.
By the way, did someone say OCRemix? Why don't you show me how much I suck by beating my Elite highscore for <a href="http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00453/" target="_blank">this song?</a>

By the way, songs by Offspring seem to be super fun... Every song by them I tried had a loop in it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Ha!
Some one just beat one of my highscores and Audiosurf sent me an email letting me know <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
I didn't mean you specifically. Various random people are beating my scores.
Problem is, I rarely play a song twice, so I don't get to know it well enough to score high. So if I get a top score, it's usually because the people below me didn't do particularly well. All in all, it means that my scores should be quite beatable with a little effort.

I'm going to bed now, but when I wake up, I'm going to do the new Nine Inch Nails album, Ghosts I-IV, by each volume straight.
Albums I'm looking forward to doing cause I think they'll fit it well:
Songs for the Deaf by the Queens of the Stone Age Bedlam in Goliath by The Mars Volta You're a Woman, I'm a Machine by Death From Above 1979 Speak for Yourself by Imogen Heap Power in Numbers by Jurassic 5 Lateralus by Tool Harmonium by Vanessa Carlton A Beautiful Lie by 30 Seconds to Mars Illinois by Sufjan Stevens Reanimation by Linkin Park Flyleaf(self titled) Be by Common You Forgot It in People by Broken Social Scene
They all have easily defined melodies and beats while not having much in between bull###### to artificially extend a song.
TalesinOur own little well of hateJoin Date: 2002-11-08Member: 7710NS1 Playtester, Forum Moderators
I play as Talesin (Big surprise!) and feel your pain on the slew of incoming 'score beaten!' mails. It's a pain in the posterior as some people have easier versions of the song (I take the time to properly EQ stuff I plan to keep when I rip it from CD) and get an easier ride that's apparently easier to score on as well. Really glad there's a 'challenge score' button, when my track looks like the Rockies, and the person who beat me has one that looks like a graceful curve upward with a few minor bumps to show that it's roughly the same song.
Generally I play on Pro Mono or Ninja Mono, though sometimes I'll slum it down with the beginner Mono just to pop up a perfect score for a good song. Just because I'm a ###### like that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Unfortunately, I can't play any of the color modes... the yellow and green blocks are too visually close for me to distinguish at the kind of speeds Audiosurf demands, and I bollix up a great combo by grabbing a brick of the wrong color. Frustrating as hell. Sometimes happens with the light blue and purple bricks as well. Annoying, as Mono has a certain score limit that any of the other characters can easily top, and by a LARGE amount with a competent player. Not to mention an inability to grab the Laser Show achievement. :b
Yeah, I've noticed that with any song that people are really competing over, Mono characters are practically not seen in the highscore lists.
And I can't play anything but mono characters either. I have no trouble distinguishing the colours, but it becomes far too stressful to try to keep track of them all, and I end up overfilling far too easily. I've tried picking up only yellow and red bricks, but that's no good. Doesn't give a good enough score. So I stay with Mono, am happy with the songs where I CAN take the highscore, and try not to care about the rest.
80% of the time I enjoy mono more; you just let the reptilian brain take over and groove to the music. If I'm looking for a challenge, or something more cerebral than reflex-based, I'll go for one of the other modes. It's very stressful at first, but when you think about it in terms of "I don't have to worry about hitting a gray block anymore" it gets a little more relaxing. Either way the most fun for me is in riding through the music, whether I'm matching colors or dodging grays.
