We should get some youtubes on the included maps as well.
Achio has one as of right now (better late then never? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> )
I just stumbled across this: <center><object width="450" height="356"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gOGKduiDq3k"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gOGKduiDq3k" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" height="356"></embed></object></center>
Was ns_legacy ever considered for the mappack? I can't check to see if it has a working download at the moment...
Or try bugging him on SteamChat: <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197962957451" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197962957451</a>

5kb/s! Ah well, the map does look awesome (could be conbsidered for mappack3? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> ), pehaps he should upload it to Bry... Also it needs a minimap and I'm not to sure about the resfile + spaces as one model has a space in its filename
Legacy will be considered for Map Pack 2, which is due out in another two weeks or so anyways. I remember Legacy being pretty good, but i'll give it a close checkup before I commit to it.
We found a bug in the first pack, but its been fixed. Seems like Rust, hulk and Enceladus are working fine, but we havnt tried Rampage and Achio yet; but those two are almost certainly fine. (It was Rust and Hulk that got all the entity changes and such).

Hmm... I tested that siege point in Saturn and I couldn't get the sieges to work from there. After that release, I didn't see any comments about it so I assumed it was ok. Since then, I've played around with Source a bit, but other than that, I haven't been mapping. I do keep source files for everything, however, and I can update it, but it'll take me a bit to get organized; I've been pretty busy lately and also built a new system:
C2D 6750 Asus P5E-VM HDMI 4GB ram Samsung 275T 27" monitor (who needs dual monitors?) NZXT Hush case with 600watt power supply
Still shopping around for a new vid card, but I'll most likely go with an 8800GT.
Definately a step up from the old AMD that I used to make Saturn.
Anyways, I'll have to dig for mapping stuff and set it up on the new sys. Also, from what I remember, the map was close to some compile limits, and thus it may take a few compiles to get it sorted out.
With regards to map videos, I made a video for the first beta of Saturn, but never released it because it contains copy protected music. Video kinda sucks without sound, and it would get a little old if everyone made map videos with the same NS music. I figure, promo pics work good without using anything beyond your own work and some NS textures.
Yay! Glad to hear from you Sike, was worried you'd gone fully AWOL <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
The pics should show you exactly where the sieges can be placed. If there are any problems with this, just PM me with msn/email whatever and we can set up a quick 2-man server to show you.
We're figuring out right now how to best stop siege, and it sounds like using a func_illusionary covered in Nobuild texture might work. If not, there's the old Func_nobuild, and one could cover the multiple small brushes required to stop that siege. Either way, I'm glad to hear that it'll be fixed for the 2nd map pack.
Great! finally someone combines all the great maps out there. Never believed Kouji_San would EVER release a decent version of his idea <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
I have to admit that I also feel kind of... honored *blush*

Well I did have to rebuild the entire map from scratch to make it happen. Version 1, before the revised version, just had way to much against it. Not only engine limitation, but also general scale problems etc... All in all way to hard to fix by simply modifying, so I revised achio with a complete rebuild <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Besides, every hive in Nexus has at least two places to siege it from. Even more is when you add in the Manual Override weldable that opens another for each bottom hive!

Haven´t thought about that too seriously. I quit playing NS some time ago and only have had short contact with the new version of my favourite editor.... just to experience some changes to be pure nonsense (texture placement). After spending more than 24 months (!!!) on ns_source I decided to quit working on maps since it never got into any serious testing (thanks to the CAL guys, you really pissed me off!). This was no easy decision because I was somewhat addicted to HL-mapping (started 1998).
But you never know. I will have to test all the freshly released maps anyway. I know how it feels if noone honors months of work you spent on such projects.
In case I would give mapping a new try I would prefer a corporate project. Good maps take time, you know <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
But I´m glad the mapping community hasn´t vanished completely.
Dude, seriously, just keep at it. Try different mods and different styles. If you put the effort into a few solid maps, and then present them in a very intelligent fashion, you can have a solid chance at getting a professional level design job. I'm hoping to say I've done exactly that within a month or so (since my portfolio site is about to go live, and I'll be applying to hundreds of companies with open Mapping positions)

This is a very weird sentence, but I think I understand what you're saying.
Maps that got the big fixes:
-Hulk got an entity rip; removed sound file links and files (they were crashing the map on load); used max X/Y values to zoom in minimap; lowered weldable times.
-Rust got an entity rip, only zooming the minimap like mentioned above.
The other three maps didn't need any actual BSP changes. But, not a single map had proper minimaps at all. Custom maps are pretty much unplayable in today's NS without minimaps, and you can see that by loading one onto a public server. Everyone cries and starts voting in something new.
Each minimap needs to be cleaned, coloured, labelled, given transparencies, and then compiled into the proper sprite format. It took roughly two hours per minimap. So basically, I would not call those 'minor minimap updates' <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />. More like, taking the (garbage) output of the in-game minimap builder and turning it into the polished maps that NS players expect (and require).
Its also all bundled together properly. One install, all 5 maps. The .res' are included and fully reflect all the updates to the maps, which are critical files for the server ops. Ever had a custom map download, but with no minimaps at all, or missing textures (i.e. a missing .wad)? Thats a screwy or missing .res file. The map filenames have all been given the _mp postfix so that anyone who already has any of these maps will definitely redownload the map, hence ensuring they have the proper BSP as well as all the other files.
Yes, the Map Pack isnt groundbreaking. I didnt decompile the maps and rebuild them or anything. They didn't need it. But I did organize the best of what the custom community has to offer in a single, fully optimized package.
