Marine in a Biohazard suit <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
Shoots canister that explodes releasing gas that drugs Kharaa players slowing them down
Shoots canister that infects the creep causing poison damage to Kharaa players that touch it
Poison darts
Chemicals to boost speed/endurance of other marines (drugs of some kind) possible nasty side effects
Chemical that marks Kharaa unit making it light up on Marine radar

Some kind of swarm or horseshoe crab looking thing
Kamakazee
spore traps causing various damage and effects
create an invisible web that traps marines for a length of time and/or alert Kharaa players
repair structures
hitch a ride on other Kharaa players boosting stats, healing or slowing the player or camo and sneak up on Marine and latch on taking control for so many seconds or simply exploding in a burst of acid/poison i dunno

Just some ideas haven't even played the original Natural Selection but I'm really looking forward to NS2.

    Not sure what kinds of new life should be in the game, but without any it would be "the same." *snore* Even if it's fun, no new lifeforms would be kinda strange... I can't think of any other game that had a second edition and didnt introduce new lifeforms though, so I doubt they would do without.

    There was a distinct role for every alien in the original, there was a balance of sorts, introducing more aliens will affect that balance; and more isn't necessarily better. I think five did well. But I guess one or two won't hurt so long as you keep it in line with the original bunch.

    As for the first post:
    Biohazard suit.. that sounds very half-life-ish.. and since you're building it on the same engine, people are like to point fingers and accuse of 'copying'. Besides, doesn't the Heavy Armour fit that role, really?
    Somehow, the aliens are the masters of biological/chemical warfare, and the marines've got nothing in that regard (instead they've got technological warfare). I think the prevailing feeling is to keep the aliens and marines distinct from one another, so keeping their arsenal distinct would be in line with that.
    As for speed/endurance, or more generally, "performance enhancements". We lot've discussed it around the forums. Doesn't necessarily have to be drugs/chemicals, though I think it's odd since that's the obvious example but no one else has suggested it - others were thinking more along the lines of enhancements through nanites (nanobots) in the bloodstream/muscles or a 'powered exoskeleton' kind of thing.

    Btw, welcome Pattylans. Nice to see a new face around, and glad to see the game's getting some attention.
