Just installed new gfx drivers 169.21_forceware_winxp_32bit_international_whql

(dated something like 05/12/2007)

gfx card 6800GT

fps_max = 100
vsync = forced off

still getting maximum fps as 60 when i go cl_showfps = 1 or net_graph 3

any ideas?

cheers

(yes i have turned off vsync permanently rather than application controlled)

edit :

just rolled back to old drivers as of july2007 and fps is back to 100 - guess its something to do with these new drivers at a guess...

    Glad you got it fixed.

    If you're limited to 60 fps it is v-sync. If you are sure you turned it off, it's probably a buggy application that is not letting you turn it off right. One way you can test is to lock your monitor refresh rate higher than 60 and play, and see if the max fps is up. You may need to use a program like RefreshLock and a lower resolution. The better the monitor, the higher the refresh rate at higher resolutions.

    You did the correct thing by rolling back. It may work with the new drivers if you uninstall, reboot into safe mode do a driver clean, make sure it's all gone, reboot and then install the new drivers.

    With v-sync off, don't forget to use triple buffering to avoid frame tearing, oh and do fps_max 101 to keep 100 fps instead of 99 fps.
