Gorge + Onos backpack setup?

How about you give the onos a saddle (around neck/ shoulder area like indians on elephants) for a gorge and a frill neck(Australian frill neck lizard for ref.) off armour on the onos that comes up when gorge is in place so they can team up and the weak gorge is protected/ suffers reduced damage from frontal attack but can still heal and has a small window /pillbox slot to shoot out bile/ webbing at doors and other Rines. But if the onos does a runner or is caught in a crossfire/ ambush the gorge is fully exposed to attack from behind and the sides.( adjust cover as necessary)
The gorge could get part off the credit/res/score for the kill as the medic does in TF2.(who stole your healing players on the move idea) but Unlike now where they get virtually stuff all for healing the attcking aliens.

    Oh man, just reading this post makes me want to install NS1 again. Das Uber Gorge! hehe I still like the idea of upgrades, but incorperating some sort of bonus systems by teaming up [aliens and marnies] is a great idea for strategy and it adds to the teamwork idea which in my mind is always great. Maybe the gorges are like that ###### tiger in He-Man, but when he is given powers he turns into gorge beast! Super armor, 3X the size, has instagib spit and can charge! hehe

    Sorry, I had to, I just love the gorgies.

    i dont like your specific idea, but i do support the notion of having aliens teaming together for mutual benefit. maybe 2 aliens could meld/morph together to form 1 big badass alien, one controls movement, the other the attacks. a bit like tanks in red orchestra - you have a driver and a gunner....

    Fade and gorge morph? Oh man, everyone better have HMGs, HA and motion. Yeah baby. We'd be smokin fools. I would just put a book over my left mouse button [wouldn't be the first time] and constantly heal while the fade plays "cat n mouse" in the rine base. Rape time!

    i think buzzou and frantic might be on to something. Hybrid aliens involving two players could be awesome, and would demand team play. this opens up a hole host of ideas for alien attacks and strategys. On other threads people have discussed new alien life forms and the king gorge, maybe this idea of two players joining could be part of that.

    whether this is just the formation of a symbiotic relationship between two alien classes or a joint evolution into a hybrid or new bacterial life form i think this idea is good

    I like the idea of alien players acting together but an Onos with perm heal is way to strong and the Gorge player is reduced to perm clicking his mouse one button which sucks.

    What I can rather see is a skulk hiding behind the neck armor of an Onos and leaping out of cover in the right moment (this way the Onos could deliver the skulk directly to the marines (whom the skulk could not have reached on his own).

    Youtube. Behold, the powers of the interwebs! Is no TECHNOVIKING, but I like it anyways.

    So yeah, maybe morphing them together might not be the best idea. It also makes the aliens less powerful by themselves once balancing issues were figured out.

    As for the idea; I like the meld'n'morph theme; but both players would need to willingly concent to morphing (Hey, like sex <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> ) and each control part has to be equally interesting; driving gets boring with a crap gunner, gunning gets boring with a crap driver.

    i kinda like the idea of alien players morphing/combing into each other - flying skulks or fades, it would be like a heli set up, one player flys, and deploys counter measures (umbra) while the other focus on locking on and shooting (spikes and acid rocket, parasite)

    it would take evolution in game to the next level, but wouldn't be easy to make it workable.

    It is already used by rines who camp and cover the rine with the weld torch to shut a vent or in NS2 weld a door. This would balance it so that the gorge could bile onto a welded shut accessway , turret setup or res tower while the onos charged it with them being a mobile battering ram for such blockages instead off the current, kill a turrett ,hide ,regain health,run out kill another turret etc. and would act as a balance to the rines who runaround with hg launchers destroying all alien buildings much quicker, (and losing less health) than any alien can.

    And the idea off using the onos as an alien version off an APC could be fun!!
    You could have the passangers off skulks and lerks (with the gorge in the saddle )hidden behind the frill <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skulk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::skulk::" border="0" alt="skulk.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/lerk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::lerk::" border="0" alt="lerk.gif" /> } and then maybe launch them by having the armoured frill catapult forwards to a horizontal position throwing the passengers at high speed into the rines encampment
