adapting aliens

<div class="IPBDescription">depending on what you do, you become better at it</div>aliens are very flexible lifeforms. they start as a skulk and can just become whatever they want to by spending some res

so why not giving the aliens the ability to learn and adapt? they could "specialize" their attacks. becoming better at what they do if they're doing it more often.

so my thought was, that aliens that usually deal a lot of damage get a damage-bonus by time. aliens that run a lot become faster. aliens that heal a lot heal better. aliens who take a lot of damage but dont die get more life.

there could be several states of this, the more they"did", the more they "get", up to a set maximum.

these upgrades could last untill the alien dies, or better, untill the round is over.

Do you mean like if the aliens do stuff from far away they might get the telekinesis ability I was talking about?

    See example below:

Excusing the arse who posted above me, I actually like this idea. It would add a bit more to differentiate between the aliens and marines. Quite frankly it makes sense as well.

While part of me screams "space orkz" at the RPG elements, it's not a bad idea.

I vote no on adapting aliens.

It would completely unbalance aliens because you would have fades swiping for greater damage, skulks leaping and running faster, and gorges healing for more. It would only reward those players who are already good and discourage players from trying something new (I don't wanna gorge cuz I can run so fast as a skulk).

I like the current system of choosing which upgrades to get, rather than having the game guess what you want based on what you have been doing. After all, a lot of times alien players find themselves doing what is right for the team rather than what is right for their particular playstyle.

Several RPG games, among others Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion, tried to implement this system: "if you use a bow, you increase your bow skill." The problem with it is, I am always tempted to max my character and disregard the gameplay i enjoy. The chambers allow me to choose the upgrades i want without having to work for them.
