<div class="IPBDescription">There's something in it!</div>So, I just went and saw this today, overall I'm pleased. The acting was pretty good, <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>especially for the religious zealot. Though the wife at the beginning was pretty lame, not like she was in the movie for more then 2 lines of dialog anyway.</span> You started to care about the characters, which was important because the story hinged on the characters being believable. CG was mediocre, <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>whenever a creature came out of the mist I was disappointed but it was low budget so Ill forgive them; it didn't really detract from the movie either.</span> The story was great, but I didn't expect any less from Mr. King. So, it was good. I'm not sure what else to say, I'd recommend it to anybody with a love for lovecraftian monsters and the apocalypse.

One last thing: Don't go to this movie if you want to be scared by dead people and gory monsters, it's not scary in that way. It isn't about the monsters, it's about the people.

So, yeah. Anybody else seen it?

    Good movie, but there could have been plenty of improvements.

    The ending was kinda lulz, but I enjoyed the books ending more.

    so the ending to the movie is depressing, but different from the book's ending? I have neither read the book nor seen the movie, but now I'm curious - whenever Hollywood changes a movie's ending from the source material, it's always to make it Super Happy Cheerful Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows in order to please Joe Ignoramus T. Moviegoer. Did they change it from Mega Emo Kill Yourself depressing to Just Slightly Bleak depressing?

    The ending of the film is actually significantly more depressing than the end of the book, which is, as you say, quite odd. Especially for a Stephen King adaptation, since his endings are rarely happy moments.

    Actually, the book's ending is open ended, but the movie has a sad and dramatic conclusion.

    The book ending...

    <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>If I remember right, the book ended with the main characters driving over an abandoned mist-covered highway (narrowly avoiding the thundering footsteps of a giant creature disguised by the mist) to come to a radio station where they broadcast questions such as "Is there anybody else out there?" "Anyone else alive?" etc.

    Although I read the book several years ago, so this may be innacurate.

    So far as I know, the 'real' ending of the book was very-much open ended, as in Stephen King left some of the characters alive, while the rest of the world was a big unknown.</span>

    I went ahead and checked wikipedia, and learned that The Mist was one of the chief inspirations for Half-Life =d who knew? =p

    <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>The story is written in past-tense, because in the end (final pages) you find out it's the main character (Drayton) writing down the events of the days before. He leaves off by saying he unsure of what'll happen and in the morning they're going to drive out again. So they're just left to wander the mist in search of salvation. Ending the memoirs.</span>
