Sticky Chambers for NS2

wallbuild ftw
I used to play a bit on custom servers back in the day, and whilst browsing the forums I just remembered this godsent mod that really makes NS classic more enjoyable.

Basically, what it would do is give all alien upgrade/offensive chambers (mc, dc, sc, oc) the power to be built on walls/ceilings. It might sound a bit odd, but It's really interesting. Seeing as they ARE aliens, and the walls are going to be littered with DI, why not implement this for NS2? It would greatly increase the life expectancy of OC's as in NS they were too easily picked off by wandering rines because of the fact that they were limited to the floor. If they are able to be placed on ceilings, above doorway entrances, etc, It creates more of an ambush style atmosphere, which fits in nicely to the Khaara's abilitys.

The only thing is that gorges need a way to get to the ceilings.. This could easily be fixed with an extremely dumbed down version of gorgehook that has a very short range and very slow pulling motion. Not only would It aid towards this new feature, but It would also aid in the life expectancy of a gorge if used at the right time (due to its slow speed and short range its not useful when the gorge is being shot at.)

Wallbuild ZOMG! Who cares if it gets boring and is suggested 'a million time', if more people suggest it theres a higher chance it will be taken into concideration.

Wall building sounds interesting. Another alternative: The alien build model could be changed so they would throw an egg, which will gradually grow into a structure. And before building, the gorge would see a faded outline of the structure, similar to TF2.
Buildings on ceilings would certainly provide an advantage and would add to the atmosphere.
NEX9, i haven't been on these boards for several years now, and have not heard all the NS2 ideas that were made already. If someone would make a post listing all the ideas that have been suggested, it would save veterans from seeing same topics over and over as well as help new people get started.

While we're on the topic of old rehashed ideas, it would be cool if structures grew up out of the DI instead of being plopped down like an aging and decrepit labrador after a 90 mile walk.

Well, actually if it was made so alien structures (except for hives and res towers) HAD to be built on DI then you could accomplish wall building without improving gorge movement, or adding a hook or something. Basically you could make it so when the gorge goes to build a structure, they would get a little transparent target model that they could see and aim around until it was in the spot they wanted (it would start right in front of the gorge so that if the gorge just wanted to quick spam chambers they would drop similarly to how they do now), then click and the gorge would spit a little egg thing that would quickly sink into the DI and travel to the point selected, and then grow out of the DI. It would be a quick process, only taking a couple of seconds after the point is selected for the egg-thing to travel after you select the point of growth.

I thought about doing that a couple of weeks ago, until I actually went through the forums and saw that there was 24 or so pages 2/3 full of ideas.

And if Gorges could only build on DI, it would kinda ruin the game IMO.
