Single Player Missions?

Not sure if this has been discussed but what about some Single Player missions?
I realize that this is an even FURTHER leap threw the game but it could be a rather interesting idea if you could play as either Khaara (spelling) or Marines.

Have the marines go in and try to exterminate the hive which is deep within a factory.

Have the marines go and take out all outposts of the marines and kick them off the planet (possibly not Earth).

It's another idea but i think multilayer is still the way to go.. single player missions would increase it's popularity though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

    the devs have already confirmed long ago that they wont be making single player missions for NS2. but with all this discussion about LUA and custom game modes, someone may be able to make their own single player missions when the game is released, or at least some sort of CO-OP game mode.... i'm not sure, i know nothing about LUA or any of that stuff.

    I'm toying with the idea. I want to learn scripting, and what better way than to script an entire single player mission. A map like Nexus would easily turn into the setting for a full-blown single player mission; you could even make it non-linear by letting the player choose which objectives the team should try for, through a single menu much like the current vote mods.

    Would be a lot of work, but since i'll be porting Nexus anyways (as well as whatever other maps i make for NS2), a huge amount of the work will already be done. It would be one massive project to undertake, but as I said, I'm still toying with the idea.

    Well really to create the single player missions we would need to create a very well done A.I system for the aliens and marines to add more effect as well as animation and EXTREAMLY well made levels and a good story line... pretty much like a movie so it would basically be remaking NS2 only everything is there BUT it's a matter of getting a team together and working on he missions.

    i figured they were including a bot AI, it says they will in the about section. however any bot ai would have to be adapted to a single player objective based mission rather than just a multiplayer game with AI opponents. I hope they produce a good bot AI as bots are an important part of learning to play the game. But adapting this into a more single player focused idea gets thumbs up from me, but i dont expect the devs to do it

    How to make the BOT A.I. to Move, and going to fix the trouble of the second (Glasswall) , and focus on the main job (winning) ?

    it's all to do with probability and objectives and so on... such as if it has the chance it will kill the CC UNLESS a marine is nearby where it will attack the marine and continue killing the CC just like the original.

    I can see them making a single-player tutorial to teach basic concepts, but i don't think they will spend time writing code for bots. I'd prefer if they concentrate on multi-player and do it well.
