What happened to the angel investors?

I guess my earlier question got buried somewhere in discussion, so to reiterate:

What happened to the angel investors that were being mentioned a while ago? I remember getting a funny feeling that things were looking up for UWE a few months ago when some announcements were made about finding an ideal investor (or group). Now it looks like the team is in the pits again. Was it just something mentioned in this update? Or did something else happen..

<a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/2007/07/ns2_general_update" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/2007/07/ns2_general_update</a>

The other interesting topic is, if UWE were to obtain a solid investor, what would it do with the money? Is the problem that most people do not want to work for a percentage of the game's profit? I would imagine that this is cutting out the possibility to work with established professional artists, but how much of an impact does this have on NS2's development?

Sorry to get off topic but how can you "angel investor" wrong when the correct spelling is in the topic title?

That aside, I agree that once they get the vertical slice of gameplay done the angel investor will probably reappear.

The short answer is that we haven't closed those deals yet. Sorry, beyond that we can't say anything right now!

The revenue sharing is going fine and we've got a great group of part-timers, but we'd like to bring some more people in full-time to get things going quicker.

My guess would be the investors have agreed provisionally to put their name to funding once a demo has been finished, although this might not even be necessary given the existance of NS. In that case it might be as simple as a tech demo showing how the basics would work on Source (maybe how Source tech takes the idea forward: physics etc.)

What kind of investment is needed exactly to get things going the way you want them to go? I'm just trying to figure out the figures involved in developing something like NS2 at an optimal rate. I know that more is not necessarily better, because at a certain point the money starts being wasted.

I'm sorry if you thought I was flaming you. I really do have a hard time reading your posts a lot of the time, which is sad because what you're trying to say usually is relevant and worthwhile. Also I have posted in many of the same topics as you before and I don't nitpick everything, so I think your accusation was rather unfair. You don't have to have perfect grammar or spelling, I'm not going to disregard what you're saying based on that. However, taking the extra two minutes to re-read and edit your post will make it easier for other posters see that you put effort into your post and that you're saying something worthwhile.
Seriously, if I was an actual grammar nazi I would have a post count in the multiple thousands on this forum. Also I would have to edit a majority of my posts.

Yep your right, unscene, and in most cases I do run the spell cheacker now, but for something so short I just sprawling typed it out like I am doing right now. If its lucky to make three lines cool, in which case I usualy hit enter and close the window before I realize.

mmmm mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmm so good, o ya so good

On topic: What do these guys need investors for anyway? They've been managing on cup noodles so far, what's money going to change now? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

What Domining says, however is only insightful at random times, and almost always is inflammatory. The answer to your question is in what Max said all ready. They'd hire more full time developers to get the game out faster.

Faster is sort of good as long as quality isnt skimped.

We know they have Charlie on design/management/programming, Max on programming, Phil K on art, and I've heard a few level designers and a couple of other staff. I would guess most of these aren't working full time.

So the plan be to get to the stage where a working tech demo can be released to the community and to investors. The community will spread the word and begin working on content that could be purchased for the finished product (e.g. levels, textures, props). The investors will have more concrete evidence of success and a persistent following in order to stump up funds to recruit more team members. That's my guess anyway.
