<div class="IPBDescription">Is it possible?</div> Anyone know if its possible to run a 32 person NS server. I mean you'd need like 5ghz for that to run smoothly right?

Even this size server lags sometime and good example is ns_hera.
I tested 32 player server and it was terrible pings was like 600+. Also we tested 24 player server and same problem.
18 Player server works nice. (ns_hera sometimes rises pings to 100 or even 200)
But theorectically if someone had a fast enough computer we could run it though right? I hope the problem isn't with the code having problems with more than 18 people. I hope someday we could see one...maybe someone would use a distress beacon then <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->.
I belive it is possible to do really big server. I dont know what kind of computer/server need to be or our servers are already to hadle this if see the way to solved problem.
Not only that, but I think that having 15 players on the Marine side (with one Commander) would be pandemonium for him. Trying to respond to half the team requesting ammo at once would be madness, not only that but I don't think a lot of the levels were made for 32 players. Some maps are so small that even having 10 a side is kinda hectic.
But prove me wrong. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
From what I have been told from some who has a Duel 2.2 Xeons (each), NS Dedicated server only takes up to 10% of your cpu, and however much upload/download speed it needs. Having a 5ghiz or whatever wont help too much, it all depends on the coding really. Having a faster computer does help, granted that (and connection).
In fact, I hope servers know their upload speed limit... I know here , cable is like 20k, diffently no server here.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
My friends server runs 20 people NS server (average ping 100 to 250ish), 32 people JK:JO server (usually 20 people), i think a quake 3 server, and SETI (searching for et <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> )... He's doing ok, has that college connection, dam him!
i ran a 32 person server once to see what pings were like. Everyone had atleast 300 ping. This was Pre-patch. I haven't tried it yet, but its not the lag thats the issue.....the marines are at a serious disadvantage. I would love to see a commander to please all of them. If you are a commander that can please that many marines that fast tell me i want you in my clan.
