Also, how can you say it's the best horror game ever when it's not even out yet?
... thats all i got..... and those graphics are pretty decent, and the lighting affects are supposebly very sophisticated.
And that was almost all normal gameplay....
It's in 3rd person, it use's the "Over the shoulder" view for shooting, like in RE4,
Actualy they stated that your goign to be out numbered most of the time and ammo is very scarce... So you'll be meleeing and aiming for certain dismemberment shots to kill your enemies.... The monsters do have different dismemberment areas to mix it up a bit which should be interesting to say the least, and the added fact that you'll be in the dark most of the time, you'll be dependning on your guys lifepack to keep track of where you are. I think this game looks amazing, i mean in the interview in gameinformer they actauyl said " We want to go right up against Resident Evil and Silent Hill". Out of all the survival horror games i've seen this has to be the one that i've been most excited about ever.
Though I lile the setting. It's basicly "Event Horizon" in a box.
WHAT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! THAT TRAILER WAS FILLED WITH ATMOSHPERE! BTW Your character is an engineer, and i wonder how you would walk if you were weighed down by a heavy, completely metallic suit, carrying a 15-20 pound engineering tool around with you....
One of the games inspirations listed was actualy the movie Event Horizen, along with Alien, RE, SH, and a few others.
I thought that this was an excellent trailer for the game, much better than alot of other trailers nowadays with all that CG crap they keep feeding to the media.
If I wanted realism I wouldn't be aiming to play a game set in a derelict space station with monsters and demons.
It was the same cheap; dun dun... dun dun... dun.........POW!!! oh I sure didn't expect something screaming and exploding after all that silence! what a marvel of creativity!
The art is boring, the trailer is a Hollywood "horror" movie hack.
"ALONE..." "DARKNESS..." "WILL... CONSUME YOUR SOUL" "MONSTERS ATTACK AND YOU WILL USE A...
"GUN".

Even if the trailer was poor, I see some potential in the game. Let's just hope they don't do like Army of Two, release 20 trailers every month with nothing but split second action moments. The best trailers are in-game ones with HUD and developer commentary imo, like Bioshock IIRC.
Yah, like DOOM3
DOOM3 was AWESOME!
right guys?

It does have a very doom 3-ish vibe, especially since the graphics from the trailer look almost on par with doom 3 and are all bloomed up.
Hopefully it will turn around and offer something interesting like system shock rather than being another SPACE HOOROR

I doubt it tbh.
The feel I really got from it was the:
"Look, Dark! OMG Something jumped out, KILL IT WITH FIRE!"
Then again, it could just be the excessive use of bloom and darkness making me just expect that.
Maybe it will be what BioShock wasn't.
But I am not holding my breath.
Actually, I just checked it up - it IS going to be a console game. Xbox360 and PS3
In short, forget about anything which will even go anywhere near the System Shock caliber.

Well the fact that all of you know little to nothing about the game makes up for your obsurd comments. First of all, there not demons, there necromorphs, which morph the victim depending on the type that the host is infected with. Secondly, there's barely any bloom in the game, maybe a little but barely noticeable, since its actualy lighting.
Even in the interview with gameinformer they said that "the few levels we were able to sample were nearly good enough to be released now at a full price"
Here's another quote from there article. "Although the story is clearly dear to the developers, all the elements of the game work in service of there primary goal: to scare the living daylights out of players. The team is quick to stress that - although it's set in space - this is a survival horror title, not a shooter. While the setting might make you think of doom, this is far from the fragfest: you'll frequently be outnumbered and low on ammo, helping to enhance the already palpable sense of tension. While nasty shocks in the form of aliens jumping out of a supposedly dead body certainly play into this, the team is adamant on finding more creative ways to send a shiver down your spine."
Here's a sample of something they experianced "For example, during the demo we saw Isaac go through a decontamination chamber to reach one of the ship's research areas. Suddenly, the lights flickered as we saw aliens climbing on the windows on the other side. Then - in a split second - the lights went off completely, leaving us fighting a horde of unseen beasts. Schofield revealed to us that the beast had infiltrated the room through the ship's vent system; even a steel vault door is no gaurantee of safety in Dead Space."
Oh, of course. Necromorphs. My mistake. They're ENTIRELY DIFFERENT in MANY MEANINGFUL WAYS, I'm sure. I bet there are pages and pages of ways in which fighting a necromorph with four legs and exposed flesh for skin, who jumps out at you from the darkness with claws and attacks, is different from fighting a demon with four legs and exposed flesh for skin who jumps out at you from the darkness with claws and attacks. Completely different.

Dead Space, now with barely any bloom! It's actualy lighting! This of course means it will be fun.

I've never once seen a preview that's been wrong about a final game! Wait, no. Almost all previews are generally positive, because until the game comes out it's assumed problems will be fixed.

And here's a quote from me: "the game looks like it sucks, and even if it ends up good, arguing that the trailer is not a piece of crap shows a decided lack of intelligence."

Wow, that sounds awesome! And by awesome, I mean "like Doom 3." Because that happened in Doom 3. Every 10 minutes.

Well for one demons are originated from a religion, where as aliens are originated from science and do exist, since the universe is infinite there is an infinite possiblity of life, so they do exist, where demons, it's a side of belief....
Which makes a huge different ingame. Tell me, if I went through and replaced "alien" with "demon" every time the word popped up, would anything matter?
It's the difference between Quake and Half-Life.
Wow, most generic looking space game yet. A generic name, generic alien/zombie styles- the only thing not generic is the look of the main character. Kinda neat, the mechanic look.
But that STILL isn't worth my time. The survival horror genre wasn't a good genre to begin with, and I don't think it needs any new franchises, quite frankly.
(For the record: RE4 was the best the survival horror genre has done. RE4 sucked monkey balls. Let me move and aim at the same time, ######es.)
and I like how the alien race (NERO-MORPHS-20k-DEATHLORDS) is credited for being able to go through a ventilation system, in the interview.
gez' Bruce Willis did that in the first Die Hard.
Seriously, if the main positive comments you pull forth from an article is that the game features excellent flicking light followed by dark...
Waffles, you don't have a freaking clue, do you?
Wait, when did the universe suddenly become infinite?
Edit: Also they chance of any event happening can never be greater than 1!
I really hate how they made them demons in the first and than aliens in the others... I mean i think it fit it better but i jsut hate how they changed the theme.

Umm, that was just an example, it's the first example i saw. And how is this generic? If your stating that aliens in general are generic than there goes 3/4's of the entire FPS genre.
And it's not how the game looks people, it's how the GAMEPLAY/CONTROLS/SOUNDS/FUNCTIONALITY of it is. Honestly if you base a game on how it looks, your either a very pretentious person or very stupid.
BTW: Space has been infinite since the beggining of time and we've already discovered microscopic organisms on Mars, so that's your proof, right there, for starters.
Right now, the game creators goal is to create the, and i quote, the "Scariest game ever".
Just a side note, there planning on making this a saga with comics and further releases. The whole lot.
They also still have nearly an entire year to work on the game so it should be twice as good as compared to how it looks now.
Judging a game on it's graphics isn't a good idea, but currently that's all we have (not counting "pre-reviews" which are 100% worthless).
I believe doom 3 labeled itself as the "scariest game ever", we all know how that ended up (For the record though, I enjoyed doom 3. The environments were beautiful, gameplay was another deal though). Just because the creators say something doesn't mean it's going to turn out that way.
We aren't saying the game won't be good when it's done, but according to the trailer and what you have quoted from reviews it just looks like every other survival-horror game, except in space.
edit: I think you need to look up what "infinite" means, the universe isn't infinite (or at least the usefulness of energy in the universe isn't infinite, thus life won't be infinite)
