<div class="IPBDescription">What I would be happy with in NS2 from a vet</div>I played a WHOLE lot of NS back in the day, I was there pretty much from the begining. So I hope you value my own personal take on NS and NS2.
Personally, I think NS was a fine game, and i DONT think alot needs to be changed, so here are my takes on the races and game in general. Please, not this is my own personal opinion, im not going to tell anyone how they should make their game.
Opinions

+I LOVE the art and style of the first one, from what I read that style will stay, Im HAPPY about that
+Combat. I liked it. Sometimes I just ddint have alot of time to get involved in big games.
+I also liked the normal NS, it feels good to get in a big strategic game
+Is it possible to mix the styles of game play? Where you have the ability to level up in a typical NS game?
Marines
+Id like to see some different kinds of upgrades. Im not saying make them more powerful, because as a squad they are VERY deadly, Im just saying their can be more variety, maybe some personal upgrades.
+Commanders. Some good, Some VERY bad. And it sucks when you cant eject them. Id like to see somethign that can either make commanding easier or even optional.
+I think motion tracking can be sometimes TOO powerful, however with cloakers its almost a necessity.
khaara
+I like how the aliens are now, some can take quite a bit of skill.
+Skulks ARENT underpowered. Its actually one of my favorite classes
+some varying upgrades.
As you can see, I dont think alot should be changed.
I think an intresting idea would be to meld combat with the normal style of gameplay. Where you could upgrade certain aspects of your person based on kills and maybe even what youve built. (it would encourage people to build more things)
And these upgrades would be seperate from hive/marine type upgrades.
Just toying around with the ideas, Ive been following NS2 for a VERY long time and am hoping for the best!

If that's the case then you should listen to(or read the transcription of) podcast 7. While you won't "level up" marines will have the chance to pick their weapons while the commander will choose upgrade paths, somewhat like Savage(if you've played that game). You should also check out the Dynamic Infestation video from a while back if you haven't all ready.

+The Flamethrower was confirmed in the first podcast if you're interested in that as a new technology. It's purpose is vent/dynamic infestation clearing.
+ It was either podcast 7 or 6 that addressed this partially. If you have any suggestions there is a stickied commander interfaces thread is I&S and a couple other commander threads there as well. I recommend you listen to/read the pod cast so you get an idea of the direction.
+I don't know when the last time you played was but MT isn't really a counter to cloaking anymore. SC's block MT and walking cloaked skulks do not show up on MT either. Forward Obs/fast armor 1 is the preferred strat againt SC these days. The devs haven't really mentioned MT one way or the other yet.

We don't know too much about the khaara yet except that the onos will be making a return and skulks will become more of a scouting class. Although some have taken this to mean there will be less play time as a skulk I'm not convinced on this point.
