Blink

An older version of blink used to be where the fade would actually teleport and leave little purple effects where he used to be, while cool it was hard to go exactly where you wanted, sometimes get stuck in walls and even end up on the other side of some objects. Although it defenetly didn't play incredibly well in most situations, visually it was pretty cool.

Then there was the Blink the way it is now ( I forget if there was something in the middle, although I have the feeling there was ), and the blink now plays so well. But, I don't know how, the fade looks as though by lifting his arms he can propel him through the air, like magic? Anyways I was thinking about it and it seemed like there could be a nice mix.

First, the fade blinking could be exactly how it is now, except there could be a blur and very slight cloaking effect. I'm not saying that fades should be cloaked while they are blinking, just that kind of effect... like fading in and out while blinking I guess. For example, at certain speeds the effect gets greater. If your just tapping blink, you will just be a little blurry, easily spotted, but not completly the same. The faster you go the Fade could leave a slight trail so it looks like its stretching out sorta. Another way to explain it could be like the trails in Garry's Mod, except instead of fire or whatever, you'd have part of the fade, and the end of the trail would only be slightly visible where as the closer to the actualy fade the more visible it would be.

Personally, I love how blink plays right now, I can't imagine another way for it to work, and I think this could be an interesting type of way to make it better visually.

i've heard they are implementing a new type of blink , you hold forward, close your eyes and then open them again, and aye presto you are further down the corridor! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> now thats a blink!

I've suggested this a thousand times. All they need is to add a ~20 cloak while the fade is blinking, and the effect would be way more of a 'teleport' instead of a 'moving quickly'.

could someone make a video of the current fade's blink? when i stopped playing NS it was still a teleport, and all these descriptions don't give me a clear picture of how it is now <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

lol or you could just play the game whose forums you're posting on <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Old blink (like 4 years ago) was instant movement. Then it was switched to high-speed movement; blink would basically boost the fade's speed in about 1/2 a second up to a really high speed. Recently the acceleration was halved, so now it takes about a full second to get up to the full speed. But its still a movement speed, and not a teleport.
