This is what you get when you take many many things that other people have made and remix them, except you forget to render out the lights so it's all fullbright.

are shadows really THAT important? I for one never notice them, and I thought this was pretty cool when I first saw it a few months ago. Good choreography.

What you really mean is "a ripoff of good choreography."
well, I don't spend a lot of time watching machinima so it was pretty new to me =p I mean, aren't pretty much all action movies rip-offs from start to finish? there's only so many ways you can blow someone/something up.

No, actually, most of them go a little farther than "make a big list of stuff to rip off, then poorly execute said ripoff."

Sniper shot mirroring and crotch sparks.
I found it good, lots of work put into it and movements were executed well (despite most being ripoffs).

That's one of the things that seems wrong. Character animation wise, it seems he put in some work... Yet he couldn't be bothered to even attempt to light the scene correctly. Seriously, lighting takes at most like 30 minutes of work, while all that rigging must have taken days. Im tempted to assume the rigging/character animation was mostly ripped off from somewhere as well. It just doesn't make sense that he would spend all the time animating yet not even attempt to render it half-decently.

I agree with ya on the lighting; coulda used more work.
It's still pretty good for what it is.
I don't really think the author had a top-notch computer to make the animation even better though =[

You could make CG that is movie quality on a 1 ghz celeron, it would just takes ages for it to render. Time is the constraint, not computing power. It's just doesn't make sense that a guy who clearly spent days rigging and animating characters wouldn't bother to take enough pride in his work to spend the extra few minutes not to make it look like crap. The only reason I see for this is he took the animations from somewhere as well.

I never knew it was possible to use a professional high quality render engine, but have the finished product look worse then it would have if it was rendered in real-time by the game.

I think the movie is good... Masterchief really ain't that strong...
Edit:
ah, nevermind what i just said... Appearently HE is a SHE...

(Video's alright, as it was before, needs more shadows though. Probably better if not taken within the context of the characters that it has stolen).
