Cold Fear question

I'm in the process of buying Cold Fear for the PC and i heard people saying things about it that you have to have windows XP to play it. Well i was just wondering if this was true because i run windows vista home basic and i dont really want to waste my money.

Well, google showed alot of people unable to launch the game.

Apparently this is supposed to fix it.

i wouldn't bother really, once you get off the tanker and onto the rig the game loses a lot of it's fun
