cooooomiiiiix
I'm looking for some good comics/GRAFIX NOVELZ but I don't really know where to start. I loved Transmetropolitan, Preacher, and what I've read of Hitman. Global Frequency was okay, but not that great for me. I tried Watchmen, but I really just couldn't get into it because superheros bore me.

Any ideas for a good comic? I like something of decent length, with good characters, an interesting/original/strange type of plot, and regular joes being forced into strange situations, like being infected with Genesis or a regular hitman gaining telepathy and x-ray vision. I really dunno how I can describe what I like, because some things capture me and some don't. Doesn't really matter genre. I just don't like traditional superheroes. Is The Dark Knight Returns any good? I kind of like Batman when he's actually dark and interesting.

Dark Night is rather ummm... Dark?

check out Y The Last Man, sounds like you might enjoy it (ordinary Joe tossed into an extraordinary circumstance)

also check out WOWIO's selection of comics/graphic novels. Most of the stuff is already available for free online, but some of it is not. (You do need to create an account but it isn't a scam).

Sin City's not particularly long but it is particularly good.

Read Sin City and 300 a couple years back. Decent.

I can't join WOWIO because I'm Canadian and dunno any good American proxies. Sad.

If you're looking for something different from superhero stuff and you're into the counterculture scene, I highly recommend Hate by Peter Bagge.
It's semi-autobiographical satire that follows the life of Buddy Bradley aka The Ultimate Slacker.

Maybe I'll dig through my boxes later and see if I can find anything else to recommend.

Because god forbid anyone ever make something interesting about Hamsters. Seriously man just because it's not blazingly obvious to yo how a graphic novel with a title like "Hamsters" could work doesn't mean it can't. There are so many different ways I could imagine something like that being a perfectly good read that I don't even want to begin listing them. Your mind is way too closed. Open yourself to new ideas and stop acting like just because something doesn't pass muster with you under a set of incredibly vague, harsh criteria it can't possibly have any value.

Hmm, no watchmen? I loved Watchmen, the ordenary lives of extraordenary people.

Anyway, I picked up the first two issues of 30 Days of Night: Red Snow, it looks like it may be good. I've only read the first one yet though. Still havn't read the graphic novel, but I'll be sure to do that before the film is released.

I found A History of Violence rather good as well. Never saw the movie, but the graphic novel was great. Guy trying to be ordenary, but mobsters are after him and his family.

V For Vendetta is a must if you havn't read it. And although you said you dislike super heroes... The Dark Knight Returns was awesome.
