Pulling down streams

I am looking for a way to save/download video when it is streamed from the browser. I want to save some news reports for editing, put as they have no DL button, I need a way to download the video that is played through that windows media player (on site)

Any easy ways? Seams like a thing you would easily do.
Also: If it worked on sites like youtube and stuff, that is a plus. But I need the collected video footage in a format like .avi .mpg or the likes.

I've heard there are programs out there that let you save youtube videos at the very least, but I've never felt the need to use them and they're probably not legal anyway. you could always use fraps, but that's a little ghetto...

If it's an embedded player, you can right-click on the video and look at the properties to download the file directly (considering the file does have an extension; if it's a playlist, download the playlist and open it with notepad to see the links)

    True.
As an alternative: There should be firefox plugins that do this for you automatically <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

play "mms://odc1.dr.dk/live03?WMContentBitrate=280000" in the video player of your choice. Dont play it as embed video.
Now grab a recording tool, like hypercam. And then record away. Or, as already pointed out: FF plugins <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

<a href="http://vixy.net/" target="_blank">vixy.net</a> lets you link to a youtube video, it will then download the flv file to a server where it will convert the file to a format of your choice, and finally giving you a download link to the now converted file. Only minus is that it adds a short tidbit at the end with its logo - but seeing you want to do some editing with it, I can't see that being a problem at all.

Thing is, I am not looking to download from youtube. Might find what I need there, but the quality is sucky at most.
Doesn't hypercam add a watermark to it's recordings?
