I'm curious to see how many of you have started planning/mapping their maps for NS2? I started a few weeks ago with some design layouts, currently im designing some sections of it in hammer.
not worth it, there are alot of gameplay elements that we do not know that would be critical. i just make random rooms to get my designs en par, but nothing has gone toward a map
I'm taking it a bit slow myself, doing some actual design on the concept and the occasional quick sketch of what i want a room or two too look like. kinda fleshing out the idea i have floating around my mind.
I've started making my map a couple of months ago. It's not really moving forward now.... I just don't know what the gameplay of NS2 will be like.
When they showed the railcar concepts I thought it would be better to just wait until more info is released. Occasionally I get a good idea for a room and I will then make that. But now I have <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUZ37T6wwaM" target="_blank">one big test map</a> (vid is a bit old) and a couple of little room/corridor maps. At least I will be able to build my map very quickly when the NS2TR is released. It should be just a retexture job. And maybe add a few props. And string the rooms together in one way or another...
That reminds me... I will have to draw some plans to get a good layout. I want my map to play well too.
I hope they give us a map they designed so we can get a good foundation of what stuff they might see work.
After all, they're making the stuff, they probably have a good idea on how stuff MIGHT play out, and it'll be a good starting place for us to work off of once we get in their heads on how all these gameplay quirks will work out.

Only thing I ever did for NS in the hl2 hammer was a recreation of water treatment in ns_bast. Also I can't get myself to setup the new hammer properly, I'm lazy like that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
NS2TR might be an insentive for me to do that though...
I have a layout planned, but as it's based on NS1 gameplay i wont be touching it in hammer until we get more info, im sure il need to make changes to its design.
Until then im just gonna work on textures and props.
