End Game Strategy

The hive has been successful in infesting the place, and you have three hives.

But the marines are hiding safely behind a wall of turrets with their cuddly HMGs.

What do you do?

Have a few gorges build four or six or so defense chambers close to the marine base (but far enough from them so that they can't siege you) and protect it with a few Offense chambers.

This has become your attack platform that an alien can attack from and retreat to when low on health.

Read the note I just dropped on Ns_bast. We did this exact thing and it didn't work. Heck we tried every strategy known to ma... Kharaa... and nothing worked.

Setting up those defense chambers is a well known and effective platform off of which high HP aliens may heal after pwning 3-4 turrets.

You cannot just retreat back everytime you go below 300 hp as an onos though. I see this ALOT in pubs and even in scrims. Fades/Onos see an hmg and run like hell. Aliens have a significant advantage when all three hives are up and you are trapping the marines in their base.

Attacking from one side is not enough against a turret infested marine base... If you split the amount of turrets firing per player...its common sense that not as much damage will be inflicted to you...

Earlier you said it was an 8v8 you were playing...well

take in 7 Onos and have the gorge repair / build if by chance anything went wrong....or better yet lerk/fade **obscenity** the vents and then send in 4 Onos

Even with 15-20 turrets you shoould've been able to take out the turret factory. If it was a pub its understandable, but you still find pubs where people work together. Scrim you need to work on teamwork sir!!!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

In almost every game I've been in, end game strategy is something no one needs to think about. Once the aliens have 3 hives, they have a significant advantage over the marine, which is why it's so important for the marines to capture one hive early, or the other way around, if the marines are holding 2 hives, they probably have the game won. Not to say it isn't possible to recover if you're on the loosing side of that, but I've never seen either side pull it off. Mid-game is the hardest part, where marines are holding one hive so each side has 2 bases, where both sides need strategy. Once the aliens have 3 hives they can go Onos, Bile Bomb, Suicide Skulks...any number of things to eventually destroy the marines.
