I'm not doubting you, but do you have any links to news articles e.t.c? What the hell happened?

Don't know what happened yet, but he missed a big PPV last night (where he was supposed to win the title) to attend to a family emergency.

That is such a shame, my condolences to his family. Man he was one of my favorite wrestlers (even though i barely watch it nowadays), I really hope they get to the bottom of it.

Some sites are reporting that it's being investigated as murder-suicide, while others are not. I'm really hoping it's just sensationalist BS.

    From the WWE site:

"It has been ruled that the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel earlier today were the result of a double murder-suicide from within the home. WWE.com will have more as soon as it becomes available."

    All I can say is...<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

    EDIT:
Fox says that some detective told a TV station that Benoit killed his family and the came back to kill himself

    rofl

I'm sure the murder-suicide was staged too.

If you want real.. watch UFC. At least I think that's real. I only watch the championship fights when my mom's fiance orders 'em on tv guide or whatever. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

killed the wife on Friday via strangulation, killed the 7 year old kid some time Saturday via smothering, probably put him to bed then came back, killed himself sometime sunday, got found monday.

WWE cancels raw and does tribute to career / the benoit family, completely stops the Vince Mcmahon is dead storyline

    Shocked me for one

    [edit]
Paranoi, if you look that a TNA ring, Jeff Jarrett runs TNA and pay them a thousand dollars a week... what do you expect =D

I have a funny relationship to wrestling, as the only wrestling I see is animated .gifs of failing actors.

I used to watch wrestling with the boys when I was lil. We'd all pack into my room and watch WWF back in the days when big boss man, randy macho savage and ultimate warrior were the norm and the undertaker was a new face on the scene. My mum always made a point of telling me it was fake and I'd just look shocked and tell her she was talking nonsense... oh how much more fun it is being niave :p

As time passed I lost interest pretty quickly though, before the boys did and as the 'soap opera' aspect got stronger I really wondered how I'd even liked it in the first place. Don't get me wrong, drama is good but if I want that I'll watch a drama funnily enough. I watched Wrestling to see a fight (acted or otherwise) and some over the top silly macho talk.
It didn't really help that the whole drama thing got to the point where you couldn't even tell when an injury or real-life news was real or staged. That was just a total turn off for me.

I tried watching UFC but watching people beat each other up isn't really that exciting; the joy I got from the 'golden days' of wrestling came from the stylistically hyped up performance. An elbow to the face might be effective and quick but watching something like jimmy snuka-fly(sp?) do some crazy acrobatic jump off the ropes is infinitely more entertaining :3

That said, it's always sad to see people die and even more so to see people kill :s
The families and the dead wife and son have my <b>sorrow</b>, the wrestler? Not so much...

    <b>edit:</b> my sorry? sorrow!

no matter how you look at it, its sad..

to some he wouldve been a hero, an idol of sorts..

i grew up watching wwe, from the uk it was hard too, cos of the timings of PPV's (like 1 am in the morning - 4 am on a sunday)

i stopped watching when i was like hmm 15/16ish, benoit was around by then.. and yeah, i think its really sad that these "heroes" as they are to some people, are just as weak as us, i mean, that he had so little option in his mind, other then the steps he took..

i just think its sad, and im sure some nerd who lives in his buibble of ignorance will come and tear it up with his Satirical comments. oh the wit.

This is a sad event, its a sad thing when anyone dies, but when a person in the public eye dies, it can affect more, even if it makes some 7 year old child cry, cos his fave wwe star is dead..

It's sad that this meathead hopped up on steroid cakes murdered his wife and <i>child</i> and people still think he deserves respect.

But he's living the dream! Everyone knows the "I wish I could just kill everyone" feeling, this guy actually did it! He would probably have been a hero even if he wasn't already through his <i>amazing</i> wrestling which requires tons of skill.

No clue what UFC is since I haven't watched pro wrestling since Haystack Calhoun / ###### The Bruiser / Taru and Tanaka / etc. retired, but the only <u><b>REAL</b></u> wrestling worth watching is college, and high school.

My condolences to the families and friends affected by this selfish act.

UFC is for ###### esuna, it has been after UFC 20 when they watered it down

As far as Benoit goes this isn't cut and dried: The kid had fragile X (mix between autsism and mental retardation) the kid also had track marks from steroid use. Benoit had a legitimate neck injury, where they PRESCRIBE steroids. Only thing to do is wait for tox reports.

Well yeah, UFC used to be harcore, can't say i've watched any of it in years, fighting doesn't much interest me.

But as to the kid, yeah, rumours are that he was a weedly little sick kid and Benoit was pumping him full of steroids in some sick attempt to make him normal or more like his dad. The reports back on whether the kid was injected with steroids only help determine whether Benoit was a sick, violent, unstable murderer, or well, no, never mind, he already is a sick, violent, unstable murderer who makes me want to believe in a hell just so i could be reassured that he will spend an eternity being punished for being such a sick ######.
