The HL speedrun is alot less tool assisted than the HL2 speedrun, in fact I think it's pretty iffy to call it tool assisted at all, a script is not an external tool, it's client side customization of the engine. The scripts used were some sort of _special jump spam script (or possibly marco if he's using the same trick the HL2DQ team used), and the guass look backwards script.
The most impressive thing about spiderwaffle's HL speedrun, is conforming to the standards set by the HL speedrunners before him, he improved the best speedrun time from 45:45, to just over 30 minutes. No argument of scripts being involved can argue that away.
