1408

I love you Stephen King!
Just got back from seeing this, it almost made up for the $7 I wasted seeing the new Fantastic 4 (But that's another story). The movie was a pretty good adaptation of the book I thought, good acting, good effects, and pretty horrifying without having to use many cheap tricks.

Anybody else seen it? What do you think?

Haven't seen it, but a friend of mine has, he said it was fantastic. Hehe, funny thing is, I'm at work (I'm a projectionist) and I just started 1408 like 10 minutes ago. I may see it before work tomorrow afternoon though.

it looks good, but i'm not much for suspense/horror movies for some reason. I dont like the whole feeling tense thing all through a movie <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I can't watch scary movies. They just wreck me. Practically the only one I've seen is The Ring which a friend dragged me to; I spent most of the time with my eyes closed and my hands over my ears and for a few weeks after that I didn't want to go in to big rooms because it would be hard to sense if anyone was behind me.

Same thing with scary games, like DooM3, where I got to the first enemy, shot him before he turned in to a zombie, and quit, or F.E.A.R, which I desperately want to play because of the specacular AI and the amazingly fun gunfights, but I never got past the part in the demo where the girl walks across the hallway, which is about 2 minutes in and before you meet any enemies.

In real life I'm not a wimp though! Just entertainment, for some reason. It's irrational and I hate it but I can't do a thing about it.

Strangely for me Tycho, I've never seen a movie, book, or story that can scare me, but ANY singleplayer game can.

It was good for a modern day horror movie. But I thought the ending was kind of a cop out....was just too...blah. If people are cool with spoilers I'll expand...

I liked the fake-out ending though, with the surf-board. Two people in my theater walked out because they were dissapointed and thought it was the actual end. Heh, sucks to be them. Besides, it's nice that it WAS real, and wasn't some cliche like "In your mind!" or "You are the ghost!"

If that was a spoiler, it wasn't a very good one. I haven't seen the movie and I have no idea what you're talking about. It hasn't spoiled anything.

I'm hoping to see this soon; it looks like the only good horror movie in a while. It helps I love Stephen King, Misery FTW.

The part that got me giddy in the trailer was:

"The police are in 1408, there's no one in there."

I love things like that for some reason.

Wow i just watched it with my wife, i cant believe i actually saw a good horror movie that does not involve mindless killing or someone hunting the main character. Constantly had me on the edge of my seat the entire time waiting for the next thing to happen because every time the room played a trick on him, it was unique and shocking. There was very few 'pop-out-at-your-face-doom3-style' style scare tactics but the ones they did do were quite a shock and expecting.
