My ideas on how to make sports more entertaining
<div class="IPBDescription">Am I a genius or what.</div>Hockey: Halfpipe. Needs to take place in a half-pipe, or some sort of valley-like rink. Also, there should be two pucks in the rink and should it come down to sudden death, the <i>entire team</i> comes out and there's only one puck.
Basketball: Make the basketball arena floor one giant trampoline, and make the baskets...say, at least 4 feet higher (it would be the closest thing to lo-grav BBall, which is awesome). Also, it should be in a closed arena (meaning there are walls) and you can bounce the ball off the walls to pass and stuff.
Baseball: For christ's sake, make the games shorter while also making it easier for batters to hit the ball (make it bigger?). That way next time I go to a Texas Rangers game, I'm not there for HOURS and going home without having seen a single home run.
Football: *shrug* Maybe make a lightweight league, so when someone gets tackled they go FLYING.
Soccer: Why the hell is the soccer field SO BIG? The more time spent trying to shoot goals and less time just running across the field, the better. Make the field much smaller.
Golf: Everyone should have to tee off at the same time and go through the course racing against each other. They'll still be judged on par, but in addition to par they'll be judged on who finished first and last and how long they took and such.

Not to spoil the fun, but:
p=ma
e=1/2mv^2
Or in other words: If a light football player gets tackled by another light football player he wont go flying.
You would need to hot the light player with a heavy player to sent him flying. As alternative you can also just watch all those football videos, where a player crashes into the cheerleaders.
Hockey: the pucks would just fall straight in to the middle of the half-pipe every time. Players would get tired out in 10 minutes because they'd have to skate constantly if they didn't want to just get stuck together in the middle. Not to mention they'd all be colliding with each other way more than regular hockey which would be ridiculous.
Basketball: I don't think you understand what trampolines are like. Nobody would be able to go anywhere on a giant trampoline, at all. Anytime someone took a step, or jumped, or anything, everyone else would be off balance. Add that to the HORRIFYING injuries that players would incur every single game (falling on their necks, their arms, their legs from a long distance up, and not being able to keep their footing because the ground is constantly bouncing them around) and it's a recipe for absolute disaster.
Baseball: would turn in to "pitcher throws the ball, batter hits a home run" if it was easy to hit that thing.
Soccer: yeah sure why not.
Golf: don't even try to make this interesting. Can't be done.
And Faskalia said what I would have said about football. So there.
I would tee off last and try to hit some of my competitors that are busy putting the ball <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
btw, the basketball thing has been done sorta.
I think it was something liek one tampoline infront of each hoop
and you had to go off it to score...
possibly only dunks counted or something?
I would rather settle for a real Unreal Tournament.

Sad part is, I did. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

It wouldn't have to be THAT steep, but good point.

Another good point. I was gonna say "then about something like a bed mattress?" as the ultimate goal I'm looking for here is people jumping really high, but that's moot anyways because I hadn't taken injuries into account.
Still like my closed arena idea though.

If you have a better idea of how to increase the number of home runs (or in general action), please share. The problem is that in baseball games you're lucky if you went to a game where the final score was 6-4. And that's after a BILLION hours of boring. But if you just decrease the number of innings, all that does is increase the chances of the game ending wiht scores like 1-0 which is still boring, so you have compensate for the lost time somehow.

Also, concerning making Football more entertaining....It's actually pretty entertaining as it is. Doesn't need much change. But if it DID...

P.S. I'm willing to bet that lightweight football players would more than make up with velocity for what they lack in mass, seeing as how they're light in weight and all.
Also: Baseketball!
All balls are handed out randomly, each ball has a 20-100% (digitally stored) chance of triggering when hit by a club. When triggered the ball explodes within 0-20 seconds. Any ball exploding near another ball triggers it as well. Awesome carnage ensued.

Magnetic plates under the ice and just enough metal in the puck to hold it in vertical position when dropped.

Ok I have one (although not that brutal).
Lets replace the hurdles in a hurdle races with solid brick walls. This should spice it up a little.
Oh and the 100 meter dash could be a run for the antidote <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Also, the walls would be on fire. The antidote too.

AWESOME

I came up with the idea watching the last grand national. Towards the end, where they're flat out for the post, you can see it in their eyes as someone starts to move ahead of them. They're thinking "I wish I could take you down".
Obviously padding would be increased, though.
Also, we need rollerball. Not the pansy version that exists at the moment, but the version in the film. With full contact (was that actually allowed in the game or was it just the corruption? I mean, was it an actual rule, or just the refs not calling it?) and motorbikes.
