Every time some marine is just plain dominating the game, I like to spec to try and learn something because, well, I suck at this game. A lot of them do this weird thing where right before they go around a corner, they will whirl their aim around in a spiral then jump the corner. Does this serve any purpose what so ever? It must do something because I see a lot of people doing it but I can't see how it would help with anything.

its called glide jumping. its basically doing half a bunnyhop in order to gain speed as a marine. while it is impossible to bunnyhop fully as a marine, due to actual ns restrictions, it is still possible to speed yourself p as a marine using 3 techniques(not all at the same time lol):

    1. Glide jumping(what you observed): like i said its basically doing half a bunnyhop. the part you are seeing is the mouse whipping action. what you ARENT seeing is the player hitting his strafe key in the same direction he is moving.

    2. Wallstrafing: This has existed for a long time. Go up to a wall, hold the same strafe keye as the direction the wall is in, boom done.

    3. Wigglewalking: this is just holding down forward while also tapping(in as rapid succession as possible) left and right strafe over and over. Depending on preference, some people will do this manually, or with a script of some kind. I suggest doing it manually if you attempt to try it. I find that it gives me more control of certain situations.

Combine all these three elements in the appropriate order(depending on how the map is laid out) and you will have one fast marine.
