A friend of mine works on the Google street view project. He said there is some sort of easter egg they put in it near the corner of Telegraph and Bancroft Way. I spent a few minutes looking around and couldn't find it...can you?

Yeah, I could see something else written on the other facing on the pillar, but couldn't make it out clearly enough.

Stupid internet and lack of ability to read peopel through it. You do realize those are just copywrite water marks they put on all their google maps stuff, right?
Oh, and Confused has it I think, I actualy saw it the first time, but discounted it and kept on searchign <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Does anyone have an educated guess on how long it would take to street view the whole world?
If you click on the link Flarya provided, zoom it in to the maximum without changing the position, then click on street view. The little yellow man has a trippy tie died tee-shirt and is giving the peace sign.
Do I win a cookie?
a photo is a photo.

That's precisely why I find it silly actually. It's just a photo, it hardly needs a watermark.
Oh well.
That is probably the google watermark.

It's Berkely man. It would be weird if there wasn't some guy in a tie-died t-shirt giving the peace sign.

I presume it is a deterant to people who might consider mass copying all the locations with some kind of spider. Street view isn't just a photo.. with the way you can pan around and view so many perspectives, you could use that data in many applications.

my guess is they use a special program and a very Expensive camara (takes panoramas) and drive around taking a photo every few meters.

I saw some documentary or whatever that had a couple driving a van with ~10 cams on it.
I just had a revelation. Using Photosynth, and all of Google's stuff, you could have some pretty awesome virtual tours of cities. Everything should be filled in with Street View, and then Photosynth could find more pictures to add.
I saw one picture somewhere in California of a guy pissing. :/

Probably San Fransisco. I've got a buddy that goes to school there, apparently street urination and hobo sex are not uncommon things to witness.
I was hoping to see Flayra riding on an onos, but I am disappointed.
