Low FPS under vista.

i used to get 100-90fps while playing NS. 1.8ghz dual core, 1gb ram, 256mb ati card. blahblah..
after installing Vista i am getting 20-100fps.. sometimes it's dropping with no reason..
what the heck! help please...

It's probably running openGL underneath Direct3D, which is causing your performance problems IIRC. I am not sure if this has been fixed, or will be fixed.

With HL engine games, it ran best with OpenGL however from what I recall, Vista runs OpenGL as a wrapper around DirectX which means there's an additional overhead from running OpenGL applications on Vista. You can try running NS with DirectX though I don't recall how good HL works with DirectX. Other than that you may just have to bite the bullet and play as it is. Unfortunately, since Vista is such a new system, I don't think the NS team has the resources to really support it at this time and a lot of that support would be more dependent on how much Valve wanted to support HL in Vista.
