To create or modify the sky, have a look inside the "\half-life\ns\gfx\env" folder
Those textures can be used as skytexture. If you want to create your own you have to create *.tga files. It doesn't matter what name you use for the files, as long as the bk, dn, ft, lf, rt and up are still in the filenames. HL uses them to position the individual textures

they speak for themselves actually. You can of course open up the map which uses a specific texture to see what front is or something...
