<b>To our Valued Station Pass subscribers:</b>
Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) is pleased to announce that beginning on June 26, 2007, the full versions of Tanarus®, Cosmic Rift™ Online and Infantry Online™ (what is currently known collectively as the Station Pass subscription package) will be free to play for gamers with Station accounts in good standing! These three casual, action-based strategy games will be added to www.station.com, SOE's portal for gamers, adding even more hours of entertainment to gamers around the globe.

Commencing on May 26, 2007, SOE will no longer bill existing Station Pass subscribers a monthly subscription fee. Station Pass subscribers currently in a paid billing cycle will continue to have full access to the Station Pass games while non-subscribers will continue to have limited, guest-pass access to the games until June 26, 2007, at which point the games will be free to all. After June 26, www.stationpass.com will cease to exist, and you will find each game in the Casual Games section on www.station.com.

Then here:

Pretty much, Infantry is going to be free. Hopefully it's player database will get back up again. It's usually 50-70, but mostly everybody is playing the CTF setting.

I myself am going to be playing on the Eol server setting. Been playing that one ever since beta and when I play off and on.

Hopefully I'll be forming squads with some of ya guys and gals soon!

Woot. Back when this was free (or free-ish I can't remember) I'd get in an APC and tell a bunch of teammates to get in. Then I'd drive up to the edge of the map where nobody ever is and sneak around the enemy base. All my passengers would be like "haha awesome" or something and when we got there we'd pour out like it was D-Day or something and attack everyone. Good times.

When I played this a few years ago it was a laggy, buggy, unfun pile of crap. Has it improved?

Um SOE. Aren't they the guys that ruined SWG? And are responsible for the steaming pile of dung known as The Matrix Online?

Infantry was not made by SOE.

Harmless Games Developed Infantry (basicly as an homage to subspace). They had an awsome logo (cute teddy bear with a zippo in one hand and a stick of dynomite in the other <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />).

They were bought by SOE, who promptly began to ruin the game, and then start to charge for it. I am dead serious about this btw, shortly after soE bought them, the game started to suck, shortly after that the game went P2P.

I havn't palyed it in a long time, either on the SOE server ($$) or the Private Server (anoyign players).

I will probably come back and try it out again once it is free. But it is SOE, and they do suck horribly, but I will with hold judgment.

There is going to be a catch. There is always a catch with sony.

Also, tanarus is pretty fun, though it certainly isn't worth a monthly fee (polygonz lol).

Also, thansal, there is no anti-hack in effect on the free server. Considering the behavior of the players, I have every reason to believe that many of them use aimbots.

My bet on the catch is gona be add banners. Possibly with the ability to pay to turn them off.....

And lol at the lack of hackprevention on the free server, I didn't know about that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Though tbh, I don't see how aimbots would help that much with Inf...

Most of the weapons are not Hitscan, and moving is honestly the harder part of the game, not aiming. Also, aim bot can't make you turn faster. Thoguh I assume that they could remove the fog of war effect. That would be anoying...

You know how the turrets in Infantry track your movement and then lead shots over where you are going to be? I don't think it would take much effort to transmute that code into an aimbot. And I'm willing to bet the first Infantry aimbots were created just like that.

    mm, I guess.....

You could probably write something up ala Overwatch Mode, but what about for when you move? (after all, standing still is one of the best ways to die in that game)

You're not the only one. They didn't just leave the game to die, they drove it into the ground with big hammers.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> I remember in the last days of the beta, knowing it was very much undone. But they released it anyway.
