NS:S - New engine, why not new Features?

Hi,
ive read some posts, that some ppl dont want to have some things changed.
I think i would be a big waste to write a - im sure big code - without using the new engines advantages.

I think about the "vip-mode", the parasites.
What about new weapons?
A shooting net, with that u can catch aliens...
What about all the things u can do with that engine? Moveable objects, dynamic lights, cameras etc.
And what i really want to have... be able to place a hive whereever u want.
or what about a moveable hive?

A siege where one soldier has to operate it, and he can see throug walls and can shoot on structures. (this idea might be to crazy, but that idea was just poppion up ;-))

    There are going to be new features...You are misunderstanding. There are people who are trying to remove certain features from NS that they dislike. For instance; bunnyhopping, motion tracking, etc. We are trying to get UWE to build the same game as NS but with more new and improved features. NS is already a great game, so we don't want to ruin the originality of it.

    I think God dammit is referring to how many suggestions get shot down for being implausible, unfitting to the theme, breaking the atmosphere or the fun of gameplay etc.

    Many ideas are creative and great in several ways, but probably would wreck NS2. We wouldn't want feature creep.

    Yeah, I've always felt there ought to be a turret in base that a marine can occupy like a CC. Maybe the CC can have two seats and allow the non-comm marine to take control of turrets? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/turret.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::sentry::" border="0" alt="turret.gif" />

    Additionally, Barrels. We need objects to knock over or shoot and make to fall on marines and skulks alike to hinder or even possibly damage/squish them.
