<div class="IPBDescription">And I don't know where to ask it</div>So I'll ask it here (most awesome three tiered title EVER, by the way).
In primary school, every now and then we had these music time things, in which the teacher would hand out music books, and put on a tape of the music and so on, and we'd have to sing it. Mostly it was just a time to mess around, but there was one song that stuck in my head.
These books usually had a theme, see. With some kind of poorly acted storyline connecting all of the songs, so it'd be like.... a couple walking through a circus then singing songs about clowns or acrobats or whatever.
ANYWAY.
There was *one* song out of all the years I had to do it that was awesome. It was about an old run down theater that the person in the story was going in to for some reason that I can't remember. The chorus went, as I remember (This was about ten years ago and I'm only 19):
"But what's that shadow in the wings
waiting for curtain calls
and can you hear the voice that sings
songs from an age ago
an unseen joker brings laughter
from the empty stalls
(ghostly laughter here)"
It looks kinda stupid but I remember it being an awesome song that got stuck on my mind, and is stuck on my mind right now. The trouble is, I can't remember the name of the song, the name of the book it was in, or even what year it was.
Not much info to go on I know, but if anyone can help me, it'd be awesome. Even if it's just a link to a site that sells these music things (if schools still do them).

Do you remember any thing else of the other songs?
Where are you from btw? (country)
how sure of the lyrics are you?

The lyrics I posted are 100% correct, I'm sure of that (although stall might be stool). I don't remember anything else about any of the book, I think this was the only song we did from it. The only reason I remember the chorus so clearly is because most of the class would mess the laughter part up. It's supposed to be whispered, and they'd do it in some donkey like manner, which messed everything up.
And I'm in England.
oh, and have you thoguh of giving your old school a quick call?
Just ask them about the song books and the publisher of them.
