Across the Universe
As anyone who saw Spiderman 3 can attest, the best part was the previews. For those of you who haven't seen the trailer, watch it here. Its about a guy from Liverpool coming to America, enjoying the era of drugs and free love, and then watching his whole world change when Vietnam hits. What makes this special, though, is that its a movie musical using Beatles songs, with a visual style very reminiscent Baz Lurhmann (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet).
Watch the trailer. I can't do it justice. I'm pumped for this movie, although its not coming out until September.
Slightly off topic, but should be a good year for movies. New Pirates, 28 Weeks Later, Across the Universe, Sweeney Todd... life is good.

"I'll take upcoming movies for 400, Alex."
"The clue is 'American Graffiti 10 years later plus Apocalypse Now.'"
*BUZZZZ*
"What is Across the Universe?"
"Correct! You get to choose the next category."
Honestly if they're gonna use Beatles songs they might as well use the ones sung by the Beatles, not by some crappy other band.
Michael Jackson, who owns over half the Beatles catalog, won't allow anyone to use the original recordings. That's why every Beatles song in a commercial and such is a bad cover by some lame-###### indie group you've never heard.

So write a movie where you base the main character's life on the other half of the songs? They're obviously just writing a screenplay out of the songs here.

I don't doubt its a bad idea, but it could turn out interesting, a man's life based on Beatle songs.
yah, i saw that as well. my initial reaction to that was "oh, a hippie love story." but then i realized in the second half of the trailer that it's a musical of sorts. some scenes looks amazing (i mean, acid trip amazing) the premise doesn't sound too compelling as it's really generic, but i would definitely watch it for its musical aspects.

I was surprised to not see Terry Gilliam in the credits at the end. Some of the surreal stuff reminded me of him.
