Dual screen compadibility

The general idea is that of the minimap.

On one screen, you could have your regular fps style. View of the teeth/gun. On the other, you could have the minimap(expanded).

This way you could keep track of whats going on without blinding yourself with the minimap and keep a watchful eye.

I was thinking that commanders could have two command screens, instead of one. Both screens would serve the same purpose as the original overhead command, and it would allow multitasking on the battlefield. The com could reserch things in base, then he moves his mouse over to the other screen, and drops some meds or other items for the team.

Although it needs refining, I would think that it would be useful.

discuss!

    yes yes yes! multi screen commanding would be the bomb! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

i'm thinking this is more of a thing that we'd have to get vavle to get working.
    I'd be buying a 2nd monitor if that was the case - perhaps UWE can get a deal going with a monitor supplier <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

why stop at 2? 3 screens would be perfect for commanding

left screen has your map layout showing an overview of everything,

middle screen would be the same as normal minus the minimap obviously.

right screen would be locked into a squad view following perhaps 1st person or 3rd person view of a squad member with the highest score. Also the right screen would show weapons and ammo and other equipment for the selected squad being followed.

also alien view - you could have different view modes on each monitor - left monitor is your night vision mode, kind of like when you put on the alien flash light.

    middle monitor, as normal

right monitor has your sent of fear and pheromones etc

I played with this in SupCom, having my second monitor showing the minimap of the battlefield, and I really didn't find it to be all that much of a help. Generally speaking it's easier to glance down to a regular minimap than turn your whole head to look at another monitor.

The minimap is just that, a miniature map, blowing it up to full-screen size accomplishes nothing that you can't do with nice, detailed minimap icons.
