No, their cage might get a slight smell if that, they eat either iguana pellets you can get at pet stores or just variety of veggies (keep a variety, same foods build up too much of one nutrients like calcium and they get sick and die). I had one that ate pizza and popcorn, their attitdes are kind of like dogs. Their not too expensive, mostly the cage setup if you dont have a large cage (they get about 5-6 ft long) and a heat lamp. Heat rocks are bad, it burns them. And yes, it does grab mad attention from women. I was walking in walmart with him and people kept pointing and stopping me to look at it lol.
Their very very good pets, just give them lots of attention when their babies and they will get attached to you like a dog, they can even get separation anxiety in rare cases when their owner is gone for awhile. Also make sure to read up before getting one, they have strange diets.
I want one too now, look way cooler/fun than dumb cats or dogs :|
Geckos can (depending on the species) be easier to maintain and in fact they are loved to be co-dwellers in buildings in the tropics as they eat insect pests (especially since those insects are often potential disease vectors).
That baby Iguana is cuuuute though. However, the cutest little animal has to be the babies of a Bush Baby. To bad they feel the need to scent mark otherwise they'd be awesome. Oh, and did I mention Bush Babies are gliders? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
You took it with you when you were shopping? -_^

I been taking it everywhere with me for the last few days, its so well behaved for a baby iguana its amazing. Its fun to just walk around the mall with it on my sholder, people either stop and point or they ask if its real then run off screaming.
You should train it to bring you beverages or something ^_^
Some more questions:
-How do they cope being alone/with someone else than the owner? I'm shipping off for six months in a few weeks, and this happens regularly. Will it make my potential iguana chemically unstable and eat my brain?
- How much does an actual iguana cost? Are they hard to find? (never even heard of someone owning one around here)
- How long do they live?
- Can I just have one roaming the house, or is a tank a must?
Train that one to check your email.
That is so cool. I never expected to be so excited about an iguana <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

-It takes a long, long time for them to get attached. Doubt you would ever get the iguana attached if you dont spend constant time with it.
-About $15-25 dollars, but their not a throw away pet, their a exotic animal and need to be treated as such.
-They can live 8 to 20 years old
-It can roam in the house as long as you have no other pets that would find it to be a toy like a cat. I'd suggest keeping it in a cage for the first year since their small and a bit wild till they get tamed.

Keep in mind that that's in our state. Some states, or nations, may have higher prices and may even have legit sales banned.
Iguanas like all reptiles can get quite stinkym, but they make great pets and as DrFuzzy said, you can train them like dogs. No joke, I've seen people walking them on leashes.

Dragging != walking(lol)
Good thing its a girl. A neighbor of mine had a female, and they put a mirror in it's cage, and it 'got pregnant' and miscarried...without any other iguanas getting in.
Have you named your iguana? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
Man, that's awesome. I've been thinking that if I'll ever get a pet, it'll be some kind of lizard or snake <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Nine-Toes...
Didn't he 'supposedly' kill some House Hlallu (or however you spell that) fellow in Balmora?
I recommend a gecko with the name Gex or Ultima or 'Uber Gecko'. Iguanas are alright too. Woot, non-mammals!
