Playing On A Server Full Of Newbies?

<div class="IPBDescription">Here are my (Kharaa) info-binds</div> Hi folks! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Lately, I often ran into situations, where my teammates had no or little knowledge of what is going on. After playing on a few of these servers, I got sick typing the same stuff again and again, so I wrote a script with some basic information. There is also information, that might even some more experienced players don't know.

This script includes:
<ul>
<li>Information, that the resources of the aliens are shared between them -> <i>many <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> = bad</i>
<li>starting strategy (2 parts) -> <i><!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> build restowers, <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> rush the enemy</i>
<li>how to build a defense -> <i>[defense C]-[offense C]-[sensory C]--[webs]<<[enemy]</i>
<li>Generally best order of building the chambers (+ reason) -> <i>defense - movement - sensory</i>
</ul>

To the starting strategy: Of course, other players prefer other strategies, but i think, this is the best if the commander somehow knows what he is doing (= he isn't a bloody n00b <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->)

Just download the file, and add "exec info.cfg" to your autoexec.cfg (which you may have to create yourself)

(The information is bound to the numpad keys, u may edit this <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    Though I myself is with Def > Move > Sensory

    But in certain situation, Def > Sensory > Move also works

    Just now I was in a game on the Kharaa team, the team went Def > Sen > Mov instead

    After skulking for quite a bit I decided to evolve into Fade and rip some Marines apart

    Yeah, watching all those marines pass by me is sweet, I was waiting for the right moment, for all of them to pile up together.

    5 seconds passed, I couldn't wait anymore.

    I commence my attack when a marine brushed by me.

    God I slew a whole lot of them.

    Ran away and hide in a corner when my health is 1/2.

    Fade really owns marines without HA/HMG.

    the problem of putting defense chambers first is that carapace give u minimal help in the initial stages of the game...i say this cuz if the marine is good u are NOT going to leave him with 20 health or less, its simply not going to happen...

    TAU played in an incredible scrim against iwa. last night...we won but it took us 4eva to get there.

    We started with dc's in the refinery hive and were moving up to feedwater because they had control over engine room.

    well they came in an destroyed all of our dc's rofl...still no feedwater and still lacking more than 33 resources.

    so we tried 3 sensory...well basically we had the advantage to keep feedwater from them and take it...

    ok we so have fades now...cloaked fade right outside enemy spawn = rape!!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    it didn't take us that long to finally get control of engine room, once we did we spore/bile/onos whored their spawn, (kick@ss got an onos knife kill on me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    all in all i would say if ur have good enough skulks to take out 2-3 marines at a time (w/ or w/o hmgs) i would seriously think of going sensory rather than defense to start

    just my two bits <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    btw that scrim lasted about littlemore than an hour or so

    Yeah, i have to agree, sometimes it's better to have sensory first, but in the last two games, the 3rd hive was held by the marines and we had defense and sensory chambers. We (mainly Fades and some Lerks) had a very hard time getting it back because of the lack of adrenaline and thus firepower.

    Sure you can say, sensory is better if you have some really skilled skulks. But look at my topic <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> "playing on a server full of newbies"

    So, ok, lets say, we have not sooo many newbies, and some really skilled players (both on kharaa and marine). When i played marine (which is not very often) i always watched out for those *slap* *slap* like walk sounds of the skulks (headphones rule <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->). Very often, skulk ambushes failed, simply because i heard them coming. With stealth, u can approach marines, bite one down and retreat, without them noticing, which is VERY useful IMO.

    The problem with NOT putting DC's first is that you have no way to heal, your OCs get utterly 0wned by rushing Marine squads, and you generally get to bend over and take the LMG in teh butt. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Defense, Sensory, Movement.

    Defense just because they're needed for RTS-style "turret walls". And Carapace never hurts.
    Sensory for mid-game cloak. A cloaked Skulk on the ceiling is <b>death</b> for anything less than heavy armour.
    Movement to finish off the base sieges. Fade/Onos & Adrenaline = 0wned Marines.

    True, if you ARE playing with a bunch of new players it really doesn't make a difference which chambers you put up because they will not know what they do anyway <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    Like i said before, it depends on who ur playing with...but yes basically many things can work to defeat the marines...
