DX10 on XP?

Independant group working on it. Is it possible?
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39095 link to the article

I'm no programmer, so I can't comment on whether it's possible, but damn interesting and useful if it's true. My first thought would be MS nuking the project, but they haven't stopped WINE yet, so why this?

I think i'll be getting vista with my next machine anyway, I don't like the idea of having to -hack- my games to run them. I suppose i'll wait and see how this pans out.
This is gonna get absolutely trampled over by Microsoft once it buds out and almost takes shape. I've read in an article about their being extremely stubborn about vista being the only platform to support DX10 for a few reasons. Its supposed to help developers of future games to not have to tweak settings for all different video cards, and, well - it just makes them more money.

Legally I don't think they'd have a leg to stand on. There are well explored areas of law that allow this sort of thing. Reverse engineering is explicitly allowed by all intellectual property law.
Or you let some random guy support Dx10 on XP for you at a fraction of the cost <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
