My mouse clicks by itself...

Right, so basically since yesterday, my mouse randomly "clicks" without me actually pressing the button. Quite irritating, for example if I'm typing text and my pointer isn't correctly placed, I find myself typing the end of a sentence in the middle of a previous passage. Or, when I'm watching a movie in Media Player Classic, it pauses the movie. I haven't played a game since this happened, but I suppose that it's going to attack occasionally, which is going to throw any ambush down the drain.

My mouse is a Logitech MX610, it's a cordless mouse that's not exactly designed for gaming, but is good enough for allround useage.
Would anybody know what causes this, and what I should do to fix this problem? I' doubt it's a virus or spyware because it's so silly and there's much better ways to annoy someone, but I still scanned my computer and no virus nor spyware was found.

Could be broken hardware, or a firmware fault. First step would be to somehow procure another mouse and see if the problem persists.

If using another mouse solves it, the mouse is le bork. Hopefully the warranty is still valid.

Well I don't have a spare mouse around, but I just tried turning off my mouse by removing the batteries, and the problem's still there (Left my pointer on a link and it got activated). Apparently it's not the mouse itself that's gone wrong. Now I'll try to see what happens when I remove the receiver, but I guess that after all the problem doesn't come from the mouse.

Right, wireless. Removing the receiver's a good idea. Could be getting interference.

That's what Im thinking. I used to get interference between my wireless mouse and my wireless router. It seemed that the router would send a signal "burst" or something every few minutes if it didn't have an internet connection (I think it was looking for other access points since it could double as a range extender). Anyway, this signal would be interpreted by my wireless mouse as orders to right click. Once I plugged my router in again it stopped happening.

Note: That mouse was a piece of crap, I ditched it after a month.

Yep. Or a wireless house phone. Or a neighbor's wireless equipment. My opinion? Logitech never makes good wireless mice. Personally I'd try a microsoft one or just get a wired mouse if it'll be ok. Razer mice have really lightweight and durable cords from my experience.
