Going to buy a Mic
<div class="IPBDescription">And I'm going to get it right...</div>Hey
I don't usually post here, but I decided why not for this reason I'm going to say.
I'm going to buy a mic finally, so I can actually comm a game without typing 6000 words per minute. But because I'm not the greatest of shoppers, I could use some help.
I'd like to know what makes a good mic. I've done some research before, but that was a long time ago. I remember hearing about Headset Frequency Response, Microphone Frequency Response, Microphone Impedance, Headset Impedance but I'm not sure what they mean.
I'd just like to know what would be a good brand or what should I be looking for, because most of the results on Google don't turn up useful stuff or get complicated <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
PS: I'd like to listen to music too, and keep it in the $30 range.

Ta Da! this one does me.
If you want really cracking quality the only difference will be getting a real radio broadcast quality mic those are insane for sound quality. The headsets for VOIP look decent, check out amperordirect... They will give you 10 percent off for making a account which just needs a e mail (mailinator FTW) so you can get a couple bucks off a headset.
Those are headset mics, you can also go stand alone if you desire. I don't view a mic as a complicated purchase...
I have no idea how much it cost or where I bought it. When I dug it out of storage it was just in a clear plastic bag. It has "Labtec LVA7313" written on it.

I've never looked back.
Excellent microphone, good sound.
I use it for listening music/gaming.

However I've been very happy with my <a href="http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802280" target="_blank">Plantronics X30 Headset for XBox live</a>
<img src="http://www.ebgames.com/common/images/lbox/802280b.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
So I bought some of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/2-5mm-Mobile-Headset-Pc-Converter/dp/B000IZCUTQ/ref=sr_1_1/103-3486739-9651036?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1175572915&sr=8-1" target="_blank">These cellphone headset adapters for PC</a>

And hopefully everything will work out.
I never end up using the headphone portion of the headsets because I absolutely love my 5.1 surround speaker setup. So I always need something that's not going to block up my ear much.
