I'll own a PS2 at about the same time I break my own arm on purpose just for fun, but I hear GoW2 is pretty good, but it's not <i>quite</i> as good as the original.

Or some one who is boycotting all Sony products due to how they treat customers.
Admittedly, I would be rather surprised if he actually was (boycotting everything made by every sony devision is actually rather hard).
Personally I will be buying a PS2 at some point, just for the back catalouge.

Anyways, I could care less for the game. I never bothered playing God of War, I personally thought it looked stupid, but meh.
Ahem. Anyways, my brother has GoW 2. He says it's cool.
I got bored on the first one, quit playing around 2 hours.
I'll probably rent it first though, the place I buy my games at gives you discount worth the price you payed for renting the game.
Anyway, I found gow1 pretty fun, thanks to the brutality of the game. Every once in a while playing gow or dmc3 is a necessity <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Speaking of Platinum editions, the normal FF7 versions go for about $70+ on Amazon.com... I have a copy, too... muahahah!
sony as a company is being rather obnoxious lately, but if you don't wanna give them money, just buy the console used for $50 or something =p don't punish the devs of a fun game. sony pwned during the ps2 era at any rate...

I can list the games I want to play on a PS2 on one hand, and even then, they're at ~640x480 with no anti-aliasing and I have to use a console controller, not to mention I have to buy the PS2 and the games. That's not really my idea of fun.

If God of War II is filled with ridiculous amounts of blood, t*ts and context sensitive situations; it'll be as good as the first one.
All I want now is a sequel to Shadow of the collosus.

That's just such a ridiculous reason not to play a console, it's not like you can SEE the big pixels, it's ###### TV.
I enjoyed the first God of War (Saying GoW makes me think of Gears of War, another awesome game), just because it was so brutal and became quite difficult (Something I don't see alot anymore). Im probably not going to pick-up the second one for awhile, just because Im poor as hell as currently.
There's some nice unlockables obtainable by beating the game again WITH ALL YOUR ABILITIES from when you beat the game.
Here's to God of War 3 when it comes out!

The list of PS2-exclusive games that I want to play is pretty small; maybe you could broaden it, but looking at Metacritic's top PS2 games, there really aren't that many exclusives that I would want to spend more than an hour or two messing around with.
If not, eh right.
Final Fantasy 10, Final Fantasy 11, Final Fantasy 12, God of War, God of War 2, Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 3, Deus Ex, Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, Jak and Daxter, Jak 3, Ratchet and Clank, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Resident Evil 4 (well, okay, it came to GC first, but it IS for PS2 now), some of the Armored Core games, Okami, Bully, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 2, Soul Calibur 3...
...Do you want me to keep going, or is that enough? It's worth noting that almost ALL of those are exclusive.
Also, Shadow of the Colossus is amazing.
I hear the artwork from the Kratos costume contest were made into actual models. The hydra armor for instance was one of them. And the Cod of War.
Here's another interesting tidbit that I would have never known otherwise. (there's a second dvd with nothing but video on the making of God of War 2) The voice actor that plays Kratos is that neighbor from the show living single, T.C. Carson.

Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, God of War, God of War 2, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Shadow Hearts Covenant, Disgaea, Disgaea 2, Ratchet and Clank, Kingdom Hearts, Xenosaga, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga and probably a few others I've missed, are all good or excellent. I have played all of these (except GoW2, which comes out next month where I am) and I think they are all very good games. Some stand out more than others, but all are more than worth owning.
Edit: These are ALL exclusive as well.
That game alone is worth a PS2 purchase.

There's not much to talk about in regards to the game, I'm sure most of the people in this topic haven't played it yet. The topic creater hasen't even played it.
