I'd congratulate you, but I noticed that it already says so in the thread topic.

Instead, I'll argue that birthdays have lost importance: In ages past, not only did the average human have a lot less of them (even really old ones rarely got much more than thirty or forty), but surviving for a year was actually a real achievement. Nowadays you can metaphorically just set "survive" on cruise control and expect to succeed at it for quite a long time. And all the scrubs just argue "oh but it's friendlier that way." Where's the challenge? It's not even possible to figure out who has the greater skillz! I think we should just randomly set starving tigers loose on the streets. That would put some SKILL back in the whole thing. Weed out the scrubs who just want to "have a good time." Those idiots! It's not about fun, it's not about having a good time, it's about proving that you're BEST!
