Is censoring bad words really necessary?
I've noticed that a lot of people (even good, experienced posters) have about 4 or 5 of those "**obscenity**" things in their posts, and I myself think them unnecessary. Sure, NS is supposed to be family-friendly, but its usually the younger players who swear the most gratuitously in-game anyways. And if a poster wants to p!ss people off, preventing him from displaying a bad word won't stop him. Also, one can always misspell the expletive or use L337 to spell it.

Even if the admins think they should adhere to this unnecessary censorship of 'passionate' or 'explicit' dialogue, it would be nice if those poor harmless words were censored with something as simple as a few asterixes (***), instead of a blob that throws off the flow of a usually well-written post.

This is the 21st century, people. Even a lot of news networks no longer bother to bleep out obscenities in their footage. Why should an internet forum?

I would like to see people's opinions on this matter!

PS. I have looked around for a thread about this, but perhaps this has already been addressed and I haven't noticed. If it has, my opologies, and could you please direct me to such a thread? Thanks

PPS. Jeez! It edited out the word "p!ss". That's just rediculous, IMO.

    * These forums are not a democracy. We make the rules, you follow them. We happen to dislike vulgar speech and swear words being thrown around. If you can't have a discussion without resorting to using words that become **obscenities** then you have a problem.

And skirting the swear filter in any way, be it l337, misspelling, or anything, you will only anger the mods and bring the hammer down on yourself even harder.
