Chamber placement

I think it would be nice to have a commander-esque way of placing chambers. If you're a gorge and you're trying to drop a chamber, you could be able to see a ghost model of the chamber and move it around to put it just where you want.

Also, has anyone thought about the possibility of being able to build chambers on walls/ceilings? I'm not sure if something like that would work too well, but lets hear some thoughts on it?

    this has been suggested a hundred times, theres even some random mod that allows you to build on walls in the current ns.

    Actually, He's talking primarily about having a ghost building before you place so you know what it looks like

    Would be good but one of the cool things about a gorge is the ability to produce buildings quickly. If they maintain the fast building production but allow the option for precise placement (via the shift key etc?) it would rock.

    yeah i'd still prefer to be able to plonk down 3 oc's and a dc in rapid sucession, than selecting an oc ghost, dropping it, oc ghost, dropping it, oc ghost, dropping it etc etc....

    if they can implement it, and still keep the gorges rapid building, i'd be fine with that.

    it sounds more suited to the idea of placing dynamic hives, if they decide to include dynamic hives in ns2 (placing hives any where on the map where they will fit)

    Thats not as quick and running from a group of marines and just going hotkey, hotkey, x4 to plonk down 8 oc's. having to click would effect stearing as well. However, using the menu could atuomaticly pull up the chost chamber method while hotkeying would spam. Everyone happy.

    As for the hives. It sounds nice but it would be better to just have 2-3 locations in each room where the hive could go and then a limit to how close the next hive will be.

    However, I like the fact the marines can relocate to a hive to limit the aliens. If dynamic hives are made then this strat will be very limited.

    misere's right, at the moment its just hot key, hot key, hot key....

    i think the "ghost" feature would only be good for new players. anyone that has played it for a while knows exactly where the chamber will be placed when they hit the hot key, and dont need to plan the placement.

    maybe they could just toggle this option on/off?

    make chamber placement a slot 5 weapon <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    you can cycle through them by pushing the 5 key (or whatever you bind to slot 5) multiple times

    when you hit 5, a ghost chamber appears, then you click (shoot button) to drop it.

    Kinda like garry's mod <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    theres weapon sprites for that sort of build style to happen in the current ns :o alpha 1.0 i presume
