Of course, but I'm not talking about simple current game play issues, I'm talking about the many effects talked about here that ultimately will just piss players off if they're marines and are subjected to them. I'm an alien fan as much as the next guy, but the game has to be fun for both teams, and half the stuff being mentioned in this thread would not be fun to be on the receiving end of, quite the opposite.

I would say 50% are bad, 50% are good, all need work, but then which ideas don't? I personally can imagine the Onos Devour attack being seen as a really bad idea when it first came to the table. And to some players it still is a bad idea. But when you eat a marine for the first time it is really funny and adds to the depth of the game, especially when they are telling you to spit them out or asking other marines to kill you. With a bit of thought and time testing a silly sounding idea can become quite fun in a game. And besides you will always be able to play on the other team at some stage, I always go through stages of playing on side or the other, it's what makes the game fun. Also any thing that goes into NS2 is going to be tested and made sure it is balanced.
For me I would just like to see more variation to NS2. Not just the same old thing, the more crazy and out of this world the aliens weaponry gets the better. The more HARD the Marines get the better. If the guys at Unknown Worlds give the Marines a Mini-Nuke (No joke this time) and loads of other stupidly big weapons to counter the new stupidly big chambers and weapons the Kharaa have, then I'm all for it. As long as the game has been tested, everything is equal and it ships near perfect then I'm happy! Cause I know it will be good!
Offence Chambers: (spore with web like area of effect around it when approached by marine) ~focus (probably with some nerfing) ~infect (as you'd imagine, does minimal but consistent damage. Healable with a med pack or armory use) ~silence

I really like this. Having OC linked to focus as it never made much sense to me as a SC. Infect would be a cool new ability, but maybe change it to "venom". The rate of HP loss would have to be carefully balanced, possibility include a slowing of movement so it was different to focus? However, the offensive attack is OC's "Area effect" so I would loose the web part. For defence spikes would probably be a better option than shimmer but then again having two skulks running at you and not knowing which to shoot could be fun but the programming so that the skulks did not run into walls etc would be hard.
Well with the "shimmer" thing it should be fairly easy (though I'm not a coder) to essentially duplicate the model and then have it mirror your movements from a randomly chosen side of you. As long as it's also made so that it doesn't actually clip the walls it'd be cool to see I think. Of course in most cases it'd be useless to onos and probably fades due to not enough space for the two bodies to be completly seperate, and most useful to skulks who's duplicate could walk on walls if that close. But then a fade or onos would be stupid to use "shimmer" really <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
And Inkedout, I agree with you on pushing the boat out, I just would prefer it if the NS2 game didn't deviate too much from the basics of NS. Aliens need to be about the hand to hand combat, as it were, and about skulks being cannon fodder to a degree. We don't need combat skulks to become the norm in NS2.

All and all pretty well thought out!
