irc Issues

I recently moved from Jersey to Orlando, and needless to say I can not connect to nearly half of the irc networks (including gamesurge). I do infact have port 6667 open. Whenever I try and connect it says "Unable to connect (Software caused connection abort)".

I am using good ol' mIRC v6. (and have also tried a fresh install of mIRC).

Anyone know why?

I've had this issue as well, my McAfee firewall/AV was set up to block IRC amongst other apps.

Agreed. Just don't use a firewall. I uninstalled ZoneAlarm ages ago and have never looked back.

They're all the same bloatware, right next to RealPlayer and iTunes.

you could try another port. if gamesurge servers even use other ports than 6667
i used to have that at uni,but i used qnet at the time
they had blocked off all the 6xxx ports.
    but not the 7xxx range
i just connected to the 7000 port.
and i could use irc, just like normal.

    Amen Mr. Rustyspoon!

iTunes and realplayer is the worst crap i have ever installed on my computer and reason number one for me not using mac.

I removed Realplayer because it always had to run in the background. and this caused Itunes to not work? why? Because then iTunes cannot play Moooooviiiies... To place music on your ipod you need to watch moooviiies!
