Ethanol
20-30% lower mileage than gasoline
Corrosive
Can't use existing pipelines
High Vapor Pressure (bad)
Different Air/Fuel Ratio than Gasoline
Can't be used in high concentrations in existing vehicles
Limited at 85% max

Butanol
Comprable mileage to gasoline
Not Corrosive
Can use existing pipelines
Low Vapor Pressure
Overlaps with Air/Fuel Ratio of Gasoline
Can be used in 100% concentration in existing vehicles
Not Limited

Produces 42% more energy than ethanol from the same feedstocks.
And Ethanol producing plants can easily be retrofitted to produce BioButanol

Dupont and BP/Arco plan to blend BioButanol in European gasoline in 2007

I wonder, why talk about ethanol or butanol, when we could be talking about how Centia will replace JP-8 Jetfuel! - which could potentially also replace Methanol, Ethanol and Butanol (...nevermind that it's a thread you created about an hour and a half ago).
