Re: October 31st, 2017 ...
It seems according to TRELLO that that is now going to be the Official Release Date for the PC - v1.0 game.
https://trello.com/b/KbugnSRJ/subnautica-roadmap
Also seems that December will be the Xbox version release date.
So wait wait wait...
Are you telling me... that my favorite underwater sandbox survival game is being officially released in all of its delicious glory... on the same day that Stranger Things: Volume 2 is being released on Netflix??

Okay, so after checking just now (like JUST now) it seems that while ST:S2 was originally billed to launch Oct 31, it's been pushed up to Oct 27 instead. So my two favorite things intersercting on one day and imploding the universe won't happen like I envisioned it would.

BUT! This means I'll have binge-watched Season 2 and will be prepped for Subnautica with no distractions by the time it launches.

Re: HUGE GUN IDEA {CORE SURGE}
Another thing I'd do if I couldn't get inside is build a ladder and stuff that gun barrel full of Polyurethane foam
Try and shoot down innocent space ships now you bastard!

Re: Gorge Plushies Available Now! - Natural Selection 2
yes, you can still buy them. The site will be back up shortly!
Re: Make suggestion... horribly unsuited for Subnautica (Below Zero Edition)
I can just imagine Cory or Scott sitting in their chair reading this thread, plotting their evil plans with the content here as their source

A scary thought for the future of Subnautica

Come join us for a Public Playtest tomorrow @ 2300 CEST / 1400 PST
We'll be holding a Public Playtest tomorrow, Wednesday August 2nd @ 2300 CEST / 1400 PST, in our official discord server.
Come join us to test some server performance improvements, bug fixes, working whips and MACs, Match seeding, and a new Skulk Challenge mode!
(It's also a chance to earn your "kill a developer" achievement if you haven't already
)
This will be in our BETA branch and ready for download 30 minutes before the aforementioned time. You can join our General Voice Channel in the discord during the PT in order to coordinate with us and ask questions.
Click here if you need instructions on how to switch to that branch.
We're looking for community feedback on the fixes and features, as well as assessing the stability of the build and matchmaking itself, before we test for one more additional week whereupon the patch will be released to the public.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me in our discord.
Thanks and see you there!

Re: Good things come in threes: News about Xbox One Updates
Thats fine but, some release date estimates would be great too. I've been waiting ever since it was just a single update then two now three if it hits four im going to lose all hope in unknown worlds not trying to be mean im just impatient. I wasn't impatient a month ago but this constant delay is getting on peoples nerves. I love this game. I don't love delays. I understand updates are difficult to transfer from steam to Xbox but this is getting a little ridiculous. This such a good game but if people have to wait months before we get any info about release dates then they get upset and move on. Just get these updates done guys no more delays.
Re: [POLL] Debate (healthy) in the Dev team! Can we help?
Is this poll still valid? It's from all the way back in February and I get the impression that the devs are more or less done with the Cyclops at this point.
I'm a little disappointed to see that the fire only system appears to have won out over flooding, but given the time crunch to get the game released (and how everything with the Cyclops seems to take at least 2x longer than anticipated) I'm not all that surprised given the tradeoff was that flooding was likely to be more difficult to implement.
Still, I would have preferred to see a combination of both systems implemented. Flooding damage would be in response to hull breaches, and fires would occur as a result of pushing the engine too hard (engine fires only) or in addition to flooding when a lot of damage is sustained at once (ramming into the terrain at flank speed for example).
Fires should rapidly use up O2 in the sub (right now they don't affect it) and flooding should behave the same way it does in seabases and put out any fires along the way. A fully flooded Cyclops isn't necessarily an instant death sentence, if the Cyclops still has some health left the player could fix up the breaches and the sub would pump the water out.
Also, we should have fires in seabases in response to certain types of damage, for example to rooms containing a reactor.

Cuts costs, does it not
At the end of the day, that's the practical answer to most of these complaints. Why wasn't the access panel screwed down? Because four screws are more expensive than one pressure-fit spring - which is why panels in your car are no longer screwed down, either. Why is the extinguisher not strapped securely in? "Well, we did some safety simulations and found out that it'll only pop loose like 3% of the time, and in most of those cases the occupant dies anyway, so we don't see justification for the extra expense." We don't need armor on a research sub, so we're not going to put it on - just make the hull barely as thick as it needs to be to survive the depth on the label. Sure, it could endanger a crew, but that's their fault for not buying a better model from us; maybe their leadership will decide to buy one of our fine military machines after the Cyclops gets whacked.
Everything we see in-game points to Alterra being the quintessential megacorporation: profits before all. Which means unnecessary expenses won't be made - and the definition of "unnecessary" is highly distorted. Three cents in screws versus one cent for a spring - use the spring. Doesn't matter that screws are better; they're more expensive.
