Re: Suggestion: Add color to Subnautica - Day/Night bug mentioned fixed in 52119
Um, what is OP talking about...? "Black and white" and "graphics are just not very well done", both are simply not true... If you are seeing the game in black and white, there is definitely something wrong, because this game is actually too colorful for an underwater game...
At least shows us a screenshot or something, because TBH I'm kinda curious what you're on about

Garath, are you like a mantis shrimp? Can you perceive like 14 base colors that we humans can't even imagine? Because honestly, Subnautica is one of the most colorfully vibrant games I've seen recently.
Can you like, grab a screencap and post it here?

Re: Beacon and Signal Idea.
My small gripe is that I want more beacon colors. If there's a beacon color wheel I'll even pay back the change with a pixel art made out of beacons (some small NES pixel art, I'm not an artist).
a few thoughts.
as a few of you know i periodically drop off put subnautica on the back burner and let it simmer. well i just moved it to the front a couple days ago to see how it was developing.
not bad, needs a bit of salt and a touch more spice IMO. just did the disease story, not happy that the cure is a hang fire. the story is sort of compelling but its way limited because its almost entirely linear. step 1 go to precurser base 1, step 2 and so on.
the clues are allright have been for a long time but there just isnt a way to came at the story sideways. i like the scannables and the warper story is nice to see. the leviathons are good please make them scannable it takes a bit of skill to get near enough to scan one.
again a plea for bivalves gastropods and the little critters that fill in the rest of the food chain; however i did see that you made the rock grub scannable and i loved it. dont know if its me but i haven't managed to catch one yet (i want a small fish tank that i can fill with a crimson basket and rock grubs to make lanterns with).
oh and again let us turn the damned base lights off! (or dim them or anything other than florescent lights on all the time) a few more copper for a wall plate is fine but this glare all the time in the base is crazy making. all the work in on makeing the shallows pretty and you cant sit in the lab and see it lit up at night, instead you just get light glare on the windows.
and last but not least make the map bigger or something after two years of periodic play i seem to need a bit more room.
all right and i am loving the adjusted world lighting, dont know what you did to it but its a bit more friendly now than it was. i took a noon sight screen shot to compare to my old noon sight screen shot and the light is far warmer now.
hmm finally found out what gas bags are; still wont use the torpedoes but for those who think they need offensive weaponry beyond the propulsion cannon i suppose they work (i just shoot the sharks with a quartz or some hapless passing fish ( i must say that my favoritest ammo is the crabs) and that pretty much does the trick)
as an aside; of course american water is tasteless; water is supposed to be tasteless. if you can taste it, then there is something other than water in that glass. believe me napali sulfur water does not improve the taste of Italian coffee.
why anyone drinks americanos in the first place is beyond me; even the folgers i grew up on isn't improved by watering it down.
a couple suggestions; a few more mods for the cyclops would be nice. as delicate as it currently is, its useless. a waste of materials. cant take it anywhere because its automatically attacked the second it is out of the shallows and all of the fixing with the fire and the rest you cant keep up with it. ether drop the thing from the game or make it useful for something. it sucks down power cells like mad you cant put a reactor in it or something sensible till you get the ion batteries the thing isnt even a good outpost. decoy torpedoes indeed. wont say exactly what i think of that notion as a way to make a bloody pressure hull able to be used.
and how about part of the island biome being a swamp; you already have some shallows but you could do with something like a mangrove swamp. give you a bit of a place to put some other critters in.
ah and now we come to the plants most of them both sea and land are simply not worth collecting. there are a whole 5, 6 that do anything at all other than fill up your inventory. even a stick from a tree has more uses than just being a stick,
any ways conga rats on all of the really stunning improvements, still needs a bit of flavor tuning IMO before it is ready. but its a hell of a lot nearer being ready now than it was two years ago and way better than it was three years ago
keep up the good work

The flute, eh? I'd classify it as more of a clarinet personally...But I digress, now let's bring this thread back for more relevant posts:
How I envision playing Subnautica as:
How my friends envision playing Subnautica as:
How my relatives envision playing Subnautica as:
(My friends at least get why I love this game, but I've tried explaining Subnautica to my relatives how awesome it is when they visit me. "The Love Boat" has been by far the strangest comparison I've personally encountered.)

If serious, just use SweetFX or ReShade.
And go get your eyes checked.

Re: Talking about Performance - Subnautica
Oh, boy. I'm so happy to read this. The game's fucking amazing, and the only thing stopping me from enjoying it as much as I should, are the lag spikes and stuttering when moving around the map, which is what the game's made for, exploring and getting scared at different spoopy areas. You don't know how scary the Sea Dragon can be until you try to escape from it at a changing framerate that goes from 50 to 25, then to 60 and back to 20, and stuttering like there's no tomorrow.
It's a bit sad that we need to sacrifice content, but still, there's nothing stopping you, guys, to give us some post-launch updates. So, right now a bit of optimization would be nice. I think that in most of the cases, including this one, QUALITY > QUANTITY, so I'm happy with this.
Can't wait!

Re: Should the player die by the infection
No, because it's going to push people away who aren't experienced or want a more relaxed game experience.
At most, it should have consequences such as slowing movement, decreasing oxygen efficiency or allowing only 50% maximum health. That's what I'd personally choose.

Re: Subnautica Base Building Contest!
I think if it's going to have a story, it should be an in-game story, and therefore shouldn't be just a base you've built in Creative with unlimited resources and then made up a backstory for.
While I'm commenting, I might as well post my first big base. This was my Bulb Zone Fauna Research facility, where I had 5 aquariums set up to represent different biomes, each with related fauna and flora. I had a parking spot over a thermal outside for my Cyclops so it could recharge, and I was a minute away from the warp gate, so I could travel all over the map with ease. (It also happens to be really close to the new Lost River/ILZ entrance).
The 5th aquarium was dedicated to the Lava Zone, but when the Lava Lizard eggs hatched they were all infected

Re: 'BOREALIS RISING' - A Subnautica Story V2.0.
Please, let's stop these useless arguments about who's post was more useless and just get on with the story. Bumps are useful to keep attracting people to this great story but arguing who's post is more useless isn't.
