<div class="IPBDescription">What do you think?</div>OK, we've finally decided to announce the names of the aliens.  These aren't totally official yet, but these are what we're calling them now.  Some of these may change, we're not sure.  We'd like to know what you guys think.

PLEASE, remember, all alien names sound stupid when you first hear them, it's a law.  Try to keep an open mind and think about these names before you respond... :)

Not everyone on the dev team thinks all these names are the best choices, but we have to find a happy medium that will appeal to the most people.

So without further ado, here are the "official" alien names.

Level 1: <b>Skulk</b>
Level 2: <b>Gorge</b>
Level 3: <b>Lerk</b>
Level 4: <b>Fade</b>
Level 5: <b>Onos</b>

So, what do you think?

    well, they feel original and are strange, maybe a little too strange, I'm undecided.

    I like that latter 2

    Lv 1-3 sound alright but the lv 4-5 don't. Might I make a suggestion, lv 5 should be called Oni.   <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->  Fade sounds a little plain/generic for a grotesque lv 4.

    I love Lerk, I think it fits the Level 3 perfectly and the rest are alright as well, but I'm not really sure about Onos =/

    Fade is the best, onos is second best, gorge third, skulk fourth, and lerk fifth.

    I think a better name for the Level 3 would be something like Scry. Gorge is a little weird, because it's a real word.  I like the other 3 though.

    Someone in IRC just about I dunno 10 minutes ago stated that in some other language it meant dragon or something like that.  Just because it's another language doens't mean it isn't a word.

    I think Omnus sounds better than Onos. Onos reminds me too much of mIRC babbling. I've always liked Behemoth, but if you're aiming for new words then Fade could be changed.

    I might be alone in my opinion, but..... I don't think that's the right way to go about names. Those names sound too individualistic, like something a <b>single</b> alien would be named, not an entire class of them.

    The names for the aliens should basically be like a species name. (not the genus species stuff, just the name everyone would say) Sort of like starcraft I guess, with all those -lisk zerg units.

    Or whatever, I don't care, LET ME PLAAAAAAY  <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->  <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->  <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->  <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

    Well, I'm just going to be blunt and say I really don't like any of those names.  I might be wrong but there doesn't really seem to be a theme to their names, they sounded better when they were named by numbers.  They were catchy and easy to remember.  When I read the word "skulk" I see something big and clumsy, not small and agile.  Gorge reminds me of "George"(I thought thats what it was when I first read it).  Lerk is pretty good, but Lurker would be catchier.  Fade doesn't sound like anything an alien would ever be reffered to as, even if it does reflect his ability.  I like Onos, but unless I'm reading it wrong, this is the only name that is more than is one syllable.  Maybe I'm being to overly critical, I mean they ARE just names after all, but they just don't sound right to me, and they seem like something a kid drawing aliens in the 3rd grade might name them.  That's just my opinion though.

    Heh, I think the nicknames will be used more than the actual names. For simpler chat they may be just numbers. I think the actual names are really just novelty. ^^

    Lerk can be changed though, I dunno... just does'nt seem right for the Flier...

    Onos and Fade are awsome. The rest I'm indifferent about.

    Lets just adjust these names a bit... ;D
    Level 1: <b>Skunk</b>
    Level 2: <b>George</b>
    Level 3: <b>Yerk..?</b>
    Level 4: <b>Fading</b>
    Level 5: <b>Omoosh</b>

    note: these are totaly random and sporatic.
    On a side note, I think the names are decent.

    Flayra, could you explain the logic behind the first three names?

    I was hoping for functional names with an easy-to-remember connection between an alien's specialty and the name. Else the names are interchangeable and will be mixed up, to be eventually replaced by easier nicknames.

    "Fade" makes sense and "Onos" is brilliant.
