totally agree that marines are very plain and same-y.
more variety is definitely wanted. Here are some recent ideas i've had.

mine does the same thing, but i find that if I leave the game running and alt-tab instead quitting, then it doesn't crash. its also much faster when you are testing little fixes since you dont have to reload the game, just reload the map.

xpadder is great - my hands tend to ache as well, so I use xpadder in any game that doesnt have native controller support and it usually works really well. From memory it was only like $9 or something like that.

or the tunnel slowly colapses from the end that is closed off, so you have to try to get out before you get crushed.

aliens 100% invisible but you can see a trail of saliva behind them, so you can see where they have been which gives you a clue to where they actually are.

gorge flipping - if you go up to a gorge and press "E" you will turn the gorge up-side down and he'll have to rock his mouse left and right, kick his feet and foam at the mouth to flip back the right way up.

The big difference is that gorge with his First Person view is able to relocate the structures to any wall or ceiling with much better accuracy to provide the little gorge fort with a better tactical advantage. -
rather than creating a new alien, i'd like to see the current aliens separated further. currently they are all melee units that get an upgrade to go forward faster and have varying amounts of health.

cloaking now doesn't actually cloak you but turns you into a crate, pipe, power node or railing.
Marine 1: I don't remember there being two powernodes in this room.

the reason i'd like whips to still be movable by gorge (if commander allows it) is so that the gorge can put them on a ceiling or a wall, and it will still let aliens through the hallway easily. Plus nobody expects to be whipped from a ceiling(Quote)
